| So you wanna send me your zine/D.i.Y creation? Well, that's great! Please take a moment to read these guidelines for submitting material to Basement Freak's D.i.Y Distro. |
| Mainly I'm looking for: +Zines (personal/political, punk, queer, riot grrrl/feminist slanted, music zines which are interview based, comic zines [in the vein of "Booty", "Walkie Talkie", "Invinsible Summer" and "pocket"], anarchist, leftist, that kind of thing) + D.i.Y/independently released music in the punk/riot grrrl, emo, hardcore, folk or mutant pop vein + Patches/Pins (1" buttons, or even ones bigger than that) + stickers w/slogans and/or thought-provoking pictures + handmade postcards/stationery + political awareness type pamphlets (ie; animal rights, menstration, Gay/bi/trans rights, etc.) + zine/distro/D.i.Y project ads to include with orders I send out ....This list is flexible. If your creation isn't mentioned on this list but you think I'd be interested then don't be shy, contact me (via email or snail mail) and tell me about it. I'm really not an intimidating person ;) I am simply looking for thought-provoking/interesting/thoughtful zines and other D.i.Y creations for distribution. I am interested in the light-hearted and serious, in the vein of dire importance and complete whimsy. |
| I WILL NOT DISTRIBUTE..... Anything sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, weight biased/discriminatory. Oh yeah, and I'm not too interested in angst-ridden (like "I hate myself and I wanna die" style) zines or poetry based zines. When I say "angst ridden" I don't mean I don't want to distro yr zine if it includes ANY angst (because I know life is nearly impossible without a bit of angst now and then) but I don't want those hopeless/helpless type zines which are reminicient of the journal of a ninth-grader who's against the world . Thought-provoking is the key. People who write about their mental illnesses are still *very* much welcome to send in their zines (and hopefully this didn't offend you because that was NOT my intention). |
