Some people asked me
about the name. Here the story:
Once upon a time there was a small
software developing team in Germany. These fine people
had the vision of creating a CLIPPER compatible, native
code compiler for OS2. The project had to survive a
change of the targeted operating system, a change of the
company's ownership, the integration of a third-party GUI
library, ... and eventually was troubled with a too high
bug count.
Facing this situation, the
developers decided to try a new and revolutionary
approach in system level debugging: the Debug Vest.
Wearing the Debug Vest, the developer can better focus on
the problem at hand, and usually find and fixes the bug
way faster than using traditional debugging techniques.
The team experienced an overall 45% increase of
productivity. Or, as Ralf Saborowski (Sabo) puts it:
"Without the Debug Vest, Visual Objects 1.0 would
probably never have left the beta phase stage."
