A Message from our President Chief Billy D. Hayes, City of Riverdale Fire Services |
||||||
Friends and Fellow Professionals: I appreciate the opportunity to serve as the President of the Georgia Public Safety Educators Association. I will do everything possible to meet the expectations of those who have put their trust in me to lead this organization. The demands that all of us face are challenging. The individuals who volunteer their time, or make educating the public their career, deserve the highest praise. For we know that our success is often unknown, uncelebrated, and leaves us with the unanswered question, “Are we really making a difference?” The true educator knows the answer, and doesn’t look for praise and glory, but just the satisfaction for a job well done. Public safety education has a special place in my heart. As a Fire Chief, I have continued my commitment to public education with my department, and now I pledge my commitment to this organization and to the citizens of this great state and my fellow educators. I know I’ve made a difference in many lives over my career. My glory for my success will come not as the President of this Association or when I retire from this profession, but when I’m called upon to meet my Lord. I now call upon all individuals who read this letter, to re-commit themselves to public education, and this Association. Let us make a fresh start by unifying our talents and ideas, and come together by identifying the issues that have troubled us in the past, whereas we can find solutions for the future. Yours through life safety and fire prevention, Billy D. Hayes President GPSEA & Fire Chief of the City of Riverdale Fire Services |
