| I started feeling so strong about this a couple days ago when I found out we were dissecting fetal pigs in Biology class. Fetal pigs if you don't know were never born and I think it is very uncool for kids to be able to mess around with these little pigs. You might think well they are already dead, but I say then let scientists test on them. At least they are doing it for good purposes. Kids can use books, movies, slides, pictures, the internet for seeing the inside of pigs. Another thing that bothers me is that this doesn't fit at all with our ciricullum, so there is no point to this. This just is as very stupid thing for students to do. Dissection is something that makes most kids uncomfortable and doesn't need to be happening in schools. |

| We did the dissection 2 days ago and it was one of the worst things ever. I wasn't even in the room because I couldn't stand it. My teacher though gave me a huge book of pictures of cut open pigs in it and I had to find answers in that book. I was literally crying. By the end of this summer I want to have all dissection at my school stopped and then I will move on to the U.S.(I am not crazy O.K.) Please tell me what you think of this issue and sign my petition in my gusetbook. Every name will help stop the dissections. |

| CUT OUT DISSECTION MONTH In the month of October there is a special thing that goes on to try to stop dissections in schools. During the month green armbands are worn symbolizing all the frogs that have been dissected. During the month also kids put up green posters on lockers and all over the school(you are allowed to do this). Also frog ponds are cleaned out and students talk to their PTA and school board about stopping dissections. So start it at your school and particapate in Cut Out Dissection Month. See my plan here |
| To stop dissections at your school you have to be organized. Start by: 1. Understanding your rights and they are: 1. You have the right to wear lapel buttons or pins, even if the messages offend someone. 2. You have the right to form a school based organization. 3. You can distribute underground newspapers and fliers. 4. You have the right to use school classrooms for clubs. 5. You have the right to critisize teachers and policies. But for all of this you can not distrupt school activities or use bad language. O.K. the second thing you need to do is start a campiagn. Know who your supporters are and what are your goals of your campaign. Then figure how much time you have and start. Form a club, talk to the PTA, start a petition like I'm doing, or particapate in Cut Out Dissection Month. |
| Did you know that only in Pennsylvania, New York, California, and Lousiana there are laws for you to be able to not dissect animals? For the rest of us we are required to dissect unless you have a nice teacher who gives you an alternative. |
| There are alternatives to dissection animals nowdays. Such as Virtual Dissection. This is where you watch a tape of someone dissecting the animal. I don't really like this alternative, but it is way better than watching a stupid student cut open an animal. My favorite alternative is plastic models of the animals. They show you the inside of the animal so you can learn all about the parts without hurting animals. |
