Living It
"Today's your birthday," my son said with a smile,
"Yes," I replied as I hugged him.
"You'll get lots of presents, won't you Mom?", he asked.
"No, I don't think so", I said with a shrug.
He looked so crestfallen, that I, his Mommy,
Wouldn't receive any gifts...
I told him that that was fine,
Because Birthday's aren't about gifts.
Birthday's are for celebrating the day
You came into this world,
And to celebrate the fact,
That you are still here.
I have all the gifts I need,
Two healthy and LOUD children.
A wonderful man who loves me;
Family, who are there when you need them.
A home to belong to, a life to live.
Sure, it gets tough,
But if not for the struggles,
Would we recognize the good times?
Today is my Birthday,
And I will,
Celebrate it,
By...Living it!
