Second Chances

Walking barefoot on
lingering morning dew.
Looking through
eyes of age.
Seeing time lost--a life mispent
friend's replaced by obligations
or neglected into nothingness.
Wishing for the opportunity
to do it all, again.

But would you? Could you
change your shortsighted nature?
Would repeating mistakes
better prepare you for the next life
when perfection walks once more?
Take time, to mend old hurts.
Learn from painful mistakes.
Take nothing for granted.
Especially not tomorrow's daybreak
as second chances seldom occur.
