Out-Of-This-World Behavior!
I am delighted that your child is in my class this year! I have developed a classroom discipline plan that guides each student in making good decisions about his or her behavior. This will give each child the opportunity to learn in a positive, nurturing, classroom environment. Your child deserves the most positive educational climate for his or her growth, and I know that together we will make a difference in this process. The plan below outlines our classroom rules, positive rewards, and consequences for appropriate and inappropriate behavior.

Our Classroom Rules
1. Listen carefully.
2. Follow directions.
3. Work quietly. Do not disturb others who are working.
4. Respect others. Be kind with your words and actions.
5. Respect school and personal property.
6. Work and play safely.
Consequences
We will use a "Flip Stick" behavior plan. Each child has
a pocket with his/her name on it. Inside the pocket is a stick with colored dots on each end - green, yellow, red and blue. All children start out on green every day. If a behavior infraction occurs, the child will have to turn his/her stick to the next color. Yellow is a warning. Red will result in a time out of recess. blue will result in a note or phone call home or work. Of course, serious infractions may result in the child being sent to the principal.
Rewards
Good behavior is encouraged daily! Those students who do not move their clip all week long get to have "Fun Friday'! This is an enjoyable time in our classroom. It gives me a chance to focus on those students who have done a wonderul job in our classroom that week and gives a chance for the others to really think about their behavior choices and come up with a new plan for the next week. Many other rewards are given for good behavior: praise, stickers, extra recess, time on the computer, or a pat on the back!
