This year's WUSV Championship (World SchH Championship of GSD) took place in Bratislava, Slovakia on 4-7 October 2007.I was at this world class event for a couple of days supporting both Czech and British Teams. British competitors unfortunately didn't make it in the first 10, however Czechs proved to be well prepared and placed 2nd in individuals and 3rd in teams!! The victory went to Sweden! Third place then went to Germany and Denmark. As an addition to the athmosphere the Slovakian police had a demo of their work with GSDs.
Autumn has been busy and after training for Ankus' first SChH examination we set off to the Czech Republic for a 3-day training weekend with a trial on the last day. It was a very interesting event where I was able to see other Rotties at work. And not only Rotties... For the first time I saw a Great Dane working on a pillow!!:)
The trial started in the morning with a track which we passed, however could have done better.. On the day I had to use new articles from the allowed materials and the judge was very strict on the way the track was layed. There were many changes from the training conditions for the dog and this was a good lesson for me and our training for the next exam. Ankus' obedience was very good  with excellent retrieves, nice healwork and fairly good possitions. Unfortunately we lost all 10 points on the send away when Ankus set off for the blind standing on the side end of the field.... He did down when told:). Protection was very good as expected, loosing a few points in the obedience parts (e.g. recall fron the blind) I was otherwise pleased with his work in this discipline. Our SchH1 exam was then completed with a score
Track 71/ Obedience 86/ Protection 92.
ANKUS IS NOW AVAILABLE AT STUD. For more info click here.
My young female Chilli (Dasha Abba Sonia) imported from the Czech Republic only 4 months ago passed her BH on the same day!! She had a very happy lively obedience with a recall so fast that she almost knocked me off my feet.... We stil have to work on the breaks....;) Eventhough a score in BH is not normally writen in the score book, the maximum points a dog can get is 60. Chilli got 52. Second part of  this examination is testing the sociability of the dog and Chilli had no problems with any of the several situations she was tested in. I am very happy with the result this bitch achieved in such a short time frame at 16 months of age!
