This branch of the Whitman Family Tree is in thanks to Alan Whitman the GGG Grandson of Daniel Whitman (5).

Daniel Whitman (5) was the second child, first son, of "Deacon John" (4) and Mary/Mercy Foster (4).
Daniel settled on a property of the Whitman grant at Rosette (Round Hill) Annapolis County and built his homestead. The farm was passed on to his grandson Dimock Whitman. His descendents have, almost without exception, been noted for their strong religious sentiments. Their temperate habits and principles were not only with regard to the use of spirituous liquors but also in the use of tobacco. In their religious beliefs they have been devoted to the Baptist Church and have supplied many able ministers and devoted workers in that Church.
He died April 23, 1840, age 89.

SIXTH GENERATION

Daniel Whitman Jr. (6) settled on a farm at New Albany near his brother Isaac, "Whose mantle seemed to have descended upon him." He came to his end by accident. In running out a sled suddenly the end of the tongue struck him in the stomach and after suffering about 24 hours he expired. His death occurred, February 23, 1853.
He is burried in the New Albany Cemetery, #20 - February 23, 1853 (age 65).

When his grandfather died Dimock Whitman (7) took over the homestead at Round Hill. When he was seventy years old he was as active and vigorous as many a younger man. In his youthful days, he was noted for his feats of strength and endurance. He said that in a days work he has pitched thirty tons of marsh hay, and once split 2,500 oak staves also in a single days work.
