| My Uncle Don was a pilot during World War II. Don was a tall, thin, good-looking man. He also bore some resemblance to a certain General with the same last name. The family story is that while he was fighting overseas, he was asked if he was related to General Montgomery. Seeing a chance for better treatment, he always answered yes. Of course, I have no idea if we are related in anyway to the general. Most probably, we are not. But we have our own heroes. My grandfather was one. He was an Akron, Ohio, fire captain. He spent a lifetime helping people. In my book, that makes him hero enough for me. |
