AN: From a shirebunny: Frodo, Sam, and Pippin recovered at Cormallen from late March to early April; surely the springtime weather in Ithilien wasn't blissfully perfect every day. Perhaps there was a day or two of rain, wind, colder-than-usual air... what was done to ensure that the hobbit heroes were kept warm, dry, and comfortable?

Springtime In Cormallen

When Frodo awakens for the first time, he is weak and the world is still on fire. He drinks all the water the attendants will let him and he cannot help the tears that fall when Aragorn tells him that he has had enough and must wait for more. He turns to face the wall of the tents and wonders why he didn't just let go.

When Frodo awakens for the second time, he is sore and the world has no colour. Everything is darker and he lost the vial and he doesn't hear the stars singing anymore. When he is carried from the tent by the King of Men to relieve himself, he hides his face from the glowing, colourless lights in shame.

When Frodo awakens for the third time, he is old and the world is chilled. Ithilien does have the perfect spring weather, and that means clean rain to wash away the filth of Mordor, but it only makes Frodo cold. As Pippin crawls into bed beside him and burrows in mindful of his own injuries and Sam puts another blanket over top before joining them, Frodo remembers.
