AN: Caldwell sort of gets the short stick a lot. And I think he would have been much more upset about the whole alien possession thing given...you know..

Disclaimer: How are they not mine? Let me count the ways.

Spoilers: The Long Goodbye

Summary: I have been against this from the beginning.

“We should dope her up and put her in the Wraith cage.”

“What?” The exclamation came from several sides.

“Dr. Weir has been compromised.” Caldwell didn’t think he could find any smaller words. “She has to be confined.”

“I had Lieutenant Cadman in my head for hours and the only negative experience I had was a training run and a very botched dinner date.” Rodney said.

“That was Lieutenant Cadman!” Caldwell pointed out.

“Colonel, we all heard Elizabeth talk.” Beckett said in his most reasonable tone. “And my EKG is conclusive. It will only be a matter of hours.”

“Dr. Beckett, I understand, believe me, I understand. But who do you think it was that supported the torture of Dr. Kavanagh…and then made sure it happened? Who was it that did everything in its power to oust Sheppard when he was sick? Who was it that would have killed the Alpha team to prevent The Wraith from getting their hands on the Aurora ?” Caldwell paused as the light began to dawn in Carson’s eyes. “Because those orders and those ideas came in my voice.”

Carson looked back towards the infirmary where the possessed Elizabeth was patiently waiting. The woman was completely unconcerned by the guards around her, and seemed completely at ease with dying in a few short hours, if only she could see her husband again. He bit his lip as his gaze strayed past the cupboard in which he kept the sedatives.

“Colonel Sheppard,” Rodney said in his most annoyed tone, “What do you think?”

“You and Cadman could talk to each other, regardless of which of you was in control of the body, correct?”

“Yes. Of course, when she took control, it was usually because I was asleep, but – ”

“I’ll do it.”

“Colonel Sheppard – ”

“A few hours, Colonel. And then everything will be back to normal, and we might have given these two people some peace.”

Caldwell swallowed any number of things he would have liked to say, and after the others had filed back into the infirmary to give “Elizabeth” the “good news”, ordered every officer on the base to full gear.
