The unfortunate demise of this great 2-day Run / Kayak / Cycle endurance event (from Mt Buller to Melbourne) has left a real hole in the lives of those lucky enough to have represented Gravity Fitness over the last few years, either as a competitor or as a member of the support crew. Many lasting friendships have been formed through the bonds that working together to achieve a goal can create.
Our involvement began in
1998 when 5 foolhardy and very green but enthusiastic individuals attempted the
race : Brett Davidson, Greg Ginn, Kevin Harrold, Ian Hollins and Mark Price.
Sadly, we only made it to the end of Day 1, but many harsh lessons were learnt,
mainly that maybe we were better suited for the team race rather than the
individual race, which by the way is competed in by some remarkably tough and
talented people. From then on Gravity Fitness entered teams in the race in
1999, 2000 and 2001, until the race was cancelled in 2002. Hopefully it can be
resurrected in the near future and take its rightful place at the head of the
Australian Multi-sport endurance race calendar.
