In the 1930 census he uses the name "RL" which is the same name used in Alonzo's obituary in 1955. Of interest in this census is that Robert indicates that he was first married at the age of 20 while Maude indicates she wasn't married until the age of 30. These dates do not coincide with their birthdates, so we can assume that Robert was first married about 1895. He then remarried to Maude about 1913.
The childrens ages from the 1920 census would indicate they are the children of Robert and his first wife. It may be that his first wife died soon after or possibly from complications related to childbirth of Algie/Algia.
Roberts first wife was probably Alice Ann Cunningham (b:13 May 1882). She was the daughter of Jesse and Louise (Ellison) Cunningham. of Delta County Texas. She died 14 Jan 1913 of Peritinitis at the age of 30 in Aiken Hospital., Paris, Lamar Co., TX and is buried in Cooper Delta County, TX. Funeral records indicate that R.L. Gray was in Millerton, OK at the time.
Since he appears to have lived in Texas prior to 1900, he may have been sent to the same general area as his brothers Clay and Thomas.
Robert died in Shreveport in 1950. Alonzo must not have kept up with him since his obituary references RL even though he had passed five years earlier. Maude E. died 06 Jan 1971 and is buried beside RL in the Greenwood secion of Eppes cemetery in Shreveport.
