Game begins, June 1 1861, ends March 4 1862. Set up; Union, Lyon, Sigel, 14 SP's, all at 2712. Confederate, Price + 4 Sp's 1009, 2 SP's at 1408. Level 2 forts at 2828 and 3122. Reinforcements all appear at the end of the 4th turn of the month, they may be organised into IF's and armies prior to play. Note; Infantry SP/ Cavalry SP.

Special Rules: (1) During turns June 1 to June 4 only Missouri is in play, units may only enter this region of the map until July 1. (2) Reinforcements enter at any friendly city in the specified state. In addition the rebel may bring in Missouri reinforcements at 1009 (Lexington) and 1517 (Springfield) if he controls them. If no cities are available to bring on reinforcements in a given state (due to capture or stacking limits), those forces are lost. (3) All railroads in Misso and Kentucky are neutral, they become controlled by the 1st player to move along them. Railroad capacity is 10 (CSA) and 16 (USA). (4), OPTIONAL, the USA player receives 1 point of garrison troops each month at any RED cities he controls, these troops may not move and if destroyed must be replaced before any other reinforcements are brought on. Note that this rule will bias the game to the Union side. (5) Use of the parole rules is recommended. (6) Wounded leaders are returned as reinforcements at the end of the 2nd month after they are removed. (7) A maximum of 1/4 of new units may enter play west of the Mississippi

 

Victory: The Union player must satisfy 4 of the 5 following conditions and must control St. Louis, Cincinati and Indianapolis to win, if not the CSA has won. (1) No CSA controlled city in Kentucky. (2) No CSA controlled city or reinforcement hex in Missouri. (3) Capture forts Henry, Donaldson and Island no' 10, 3723, 3872 and 3122. (4) Capture Memphis. (5) Capture Nashville.

1862 (WEST)

Use the 1862 set up from BJ 3 but starts at Feb 1, not Mar 1, as suggested in BJ. Maps A and B only are used, the scenario can be stopped after 6, 9 or 13 months, if only 6 or 9 months are to be played don't use map B.

Special Rules: (1) If map B is used Butler enters with 16 ocean naval + 6 trns. + 6 SP's (militia) on the ships at the east edge of map B. (2) Change 9 of the starting USN gunboats to ironclads. If map A, only, is in play the CSA may summon extra reinforcements from the south coast, Bragg + 30 SP's may be brought on at the south map edge on any turn end but at a victory penalty. Rules (2), (3), (6), (7) and (8) of the 1st scenario are in play.

 

Victory conditions: The USA must satisfy all of the following in 1 year, any 4 in 9 months or any 3 in 6 months. No USA production city can be in CSA hands at the end of the scenario, or the CSA wins regardless of the victory conditions. The Union must garrison; (1); All towns in Kentucky. (2); All red towns on the maps in play (production cities). (3); Knoxville (5624). (4); Chattanooga (5130). (5); Corinth (3430). Additionally, if the game is played on map A only, (6); The CSA brings on the Bragg reinforcements.
