Strategy is stronger than willpower. In a restaurant resist the temptation by popping a breath strip before the bread basket appears. Think historically, not just calorically. One Milano cookie cookie plus a past history of eating half the bag can easily turn into a binge. The problem may be in food, not you. Simple carbohrdrates trigger your appetite. Quell hunger with protein, such as light cheese. Structure gives control. Planning when and what you eat prevents out of control snacking Separate mood from food. A bag of M&M's doesn't releive stress or frustration. Go for a walk instead. Take control of your favorite foods. Keep the Hagen Dazs out of the house. You can't eat it if its not there. Slips should teach you, not defeat you. Never say " I blew it" and let one donut sabotage the rest of you day. Stop feeling deprived. Avoiding probelm foods isn't punishment, giving into cravings and being unhappy with you size is. Treat calories like dollars. Don't splurge on junk evey day. Save it for special occasions. Losing weight is half the job. Keeping it off is the other half. Stick on the maintenence plan religiously. |
