An Alien’s Report By Stephen Gray Since I arrived in this beautiful land, from our space craft, I have done as instructed and blended in with the people. Now that I have been here for some time I am ready to send my report. Here it is. The people here worship a piece of paper called "The Charter." It has magical qualities that only the judicial class can see. The people are ruled by this judicial class; they call them judges. Every number of years the people are allowed to vote for another class, called politicians. They get a piece of paper with a number of names on it. They place an X in the box next to their favourite name. The politicians who get the most votes go to a big house on a hill called Parliament. This is the place where they make the laws and punish the people for voting for them. It is a strange land and the people seem masochistic for they continue to vote for those who punish them. Some of the more intelligent people write letters to the politicians and say "please don’t punish us, we don’t like what you are doing." The politicians are very courteous and write back thanking the people for the letters then continue to punish them even more. It is a weird system but they call it democracy!!! Even though the politicians make the laws, they in turn are ruled by a higher class called judges. The judges are appointed by the politicians. The politicians then defer to the judges. If this sounds confusing, it gets even more confusing, for the judges come from a lower class called lawyers. The lawyers in turn are made into judges by the politicians who in turn allow the judges to rule them. Something wonderful does appear to happen when the lawyers become judges, because that is when the magical qualities of "The Charter" are revealed. The judges can see things that are not written in this document and some strange power reveals knowledge only to them when they consult "The Charter." I don’t know what this knowledge is or what to call it. I have heard rumours that "The Charter" is a living tree. I don’t know how a document can be a tree, but then again I am not a judge. But I think it is worthy of further study. I was thinking when I leave this place I should bring a copy of this document called "The Charter" back for analysis. The people in this beautiful and strange land have some weird customs and they are inventing new ones every day. Their latest invention, is something they call "same sex marriage." What is that you might ask? It is when two beings of the same sex want to marry each other. I find it confusing and revolting because it does not seem normal. But then, who said these people were normal? Perhaps I should not say that, for to be critical of anyone in this strange land can cause one to be charged with a "hate crime." I must therefore carefully keep my report under wraps. So far they think I am one of them and I do not want to blow my cover. Another strange custom they have here is something called "Pride Day." This is the day when the Pride People take to the streets, some of them are naked, and flaunt their genitalia. All the media give it lots of coverage. Many of the political class take part and some even lead the parade. It reminds me of that place in their history called ancient Rome where depravity and debauchery were a way of life. I do believe there is truth in the saying "history repeats itself." They have another strange custom called "choice." When they don’t want their young, the female of the species goes to a place called an abortion clinic and has her child in the womb killed. They even have something called "bubble zones" around these killing centres to ensure that the killing takes place without publicity or protest. People showing pictures of babies cut to pieces or poisoned by a saline solution during this atrocity called "choice" can find themselves attacked for showing the truth. Even the police who are supposed "to serve and protect" say to the people who show these atrocities, "don’t show these pictures and you won’t be attacked." In fact I recall seeing a gentleman being punched in the face by one of the mob who did not like the pictures of babies cut to pieces. The truth is offensive here and the mob rules. The killing centres are protected by law. I know it sounds confusing that a place that kills its young would be protected by law, but this is a strange and perverse land. They have an aging population. The media say the cause is "low fertility." The truth is they have killed off so many of their young in abortion clinics over the years. No one will admit to this being the cause so they use the code words "low fertility." Also by using these words they don’t offend the warrior class called "radical feminists." They are very kind to animals, and many animals and plants are a protected species. It seems only human life is not protected. I know you probably find it hard to believe that animals and plants have more protection than human life but you have to live here to understand their mentality. I only hope my stay here does not contaminate my thought processes. Drugs are illegal here. But they give out free needles to drug addicts. They even have places called "Safe Houses" for drug users to shoot up in. The Safe Houses are nice places that have flowers in them and all the paraphernalia persons would need to inject themselves with illegal drugs. Medical staff are on duty to help the addict find a vein to put the illegal drug in. Please don’t ask me how drugs can be illegal when the authorities allow illegal drug use. I don’t know the answer and I don’t think they do either. Just think of this place as similar to one of our mental institutions where we treat insanity. Here insanity is normal. The even lower class are called the workers. Many of the workers are members of organizations called trade unions. Membership is compulsory as is compulsory payment of monies which they call union dues. The trade unions are controlled by a higher class of workers called Union Bosses. The union bosses address each other as "brother" and "sister" even though they are not related except through union dues. Even though membership and dues are compulsory the unions are called "democratic institutions." Although I don’t know how you can have compulsory democracy. The memberships funds are supposed to be used for something called "collective bargaining," which is wages and working conditions. But a lot of this money is diverted to various special interest groups and other causes. Collective bargaining has become collective coercion and the workers are really prisoners of the union. The only way they can leave the union is to quit their work. A free society would not tolerate this subversion of the trade union mandate. But this is not a free society. Here compulsion is freedom and democracy is compulsory. I know this does not make sense but nonsense is normal here. Nobody is allowed to be offended here. This is a caring, diverse, tolerant, just and non judgemental society. They have tribunals called "Human Rights Commissions" and anybody who feels discriminated against lodges a complaint with them. Everybody in the land complains about their rights and rights have become an industry. So much so, that there are backlogs and congestion at all the "human rights" bureaucracies. People even line up and wait to make a complaint. It is reaching the stage that when one goes out, one dare not look or talk to anyone, in fear of offending them. Then when you don’t look or talk you are reported to the "human rights commission" for being ignorant and hurting peoples feelings. It is a no win situation and I think if one can define madness, this is it. I now know the meaning of bedlam. The language here has certain code words. For example when you don’t like something that is said or is critical of you, it is good advice to call or accuse that person of being a scab, racist, homophobic, mean spirited, intolerant, bigoted, sexist and hateful. Or accuse them of lookism, ageism or any other "ism" you can think of. There are many more words similar but these are the key words used to smear people and ensure that your rights are protected even if you are wrong. People run for cover when these words are used against them. Even the media class who profess to believe in freedom of _expression are cowed into submission when a target of these words. I am surprised that the intelligent people, if there are any left here, don’t rebel. But I don’t think that is likely to happen. Their motto is "peace, order and good government." Which reminds me of that earthling book I read here called "1984" by George Orwell. It is eerily similar to this place. Words here are weapons and truth is lies and lies are truth. Anyway I must close now for the "Human Rights Police Office" is across the road and who knows I could be under surveillance. I hope my report has given you insight into this queer, bizarre and beautiful land. I must admit that one can become contaminated after living here a while. I find myself complaining, to all who will listen, about my "rights." I find myself using the key words to smear everybody I do not like. In fact, I am starting to think that this place is my home. I hope you will be coming to pick me up soon, for I fear if I am here much longer I will become one of them and I prefer to be an Alien. Yours Truly An Alien’s Report.
