Deceitful Politicians and Media?
By Stephen Gray

"Let me state again for the record that the
government has no intention of changing the definition
of marriage or of legislating same-sex marriages.”
Ann McLellan, Liberal M.P., Minister of Justice and
Attorney General of Canada, Hansard, June 8, 1999.

Note: Paul Martin was a Cabinet minister in the
Liberal government in 1999.
In 2003 Paul Martin and Anne McLellen voted against a
motion in Parliament that would define marriage as
between one man and one woman.

Now let us fast forward to January 2005. Ms. McLellan
is now Deputy Prime Minister in Paul Martin’s Liberal
government and as a Cabinet Member is expected to vote
for “same-sex marriage” when it comes before
Parliament at the next sitting. The government now has
every intention of changing “the definition of
marriage” and “legislating same-sex marriages.” Which
raises the question are the Liberals hypocrites and
were they deceiving the populace in 1999 by intending
to bring in this nonsense of “same-sex marriage” at a
later date?

The later date has now arrived and the claptrap of
so-called “same-sex marriage” is once again front and
center in the Liberal agenda. Now we keep hearing from
the mouth of the PM and the Justice Minister Irwin
Cotler that “same-sex marriage” is about upholding the
Charter of Rights. This, of course is deceitfulness,
by both Paul Martin and Irwin Cotler. Sexual
orientation was never in the Charter. It was “read in”
by non-elected judges who are political appointees. At
one time when politicians were found to be deceitful
they used to resign in disgrace. But, not this
twosome, they continue to perpetuate  this nonsense
called “same-sex marriage” and claim it is a Charter
“right.” Cotler, our so-called Justice Minister is
quoted as saying about this aberration: “Rights are
rights are rights.” (Globe and Mail Jan. 20, 2005.)
Will nobody take this guy to task? Is he really
competent to hold this position as Justice Minister?
Will he be allowed to hold his position even though
this Charter “right” he claims is a “right,” was never
in the Charter?

“…Am I ready to go into an election to uphold the
Charter of Rights against those who would attack it?
The answer is certainly yes."
( “Martin would go to the polls over same-sex
marriage”  CBC News, Jan 21, 2005.
http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2005/01/21/same-sex050121.html
)

It appears that Paul Martin is of the same mindset as
Cotler, proclaiming that this hogwash, called
“same-sex marriage” is in the Charter. Something
strange is happening in Canada when the PM and the
Justice Minister have a fixation with promoting an
unnatural behavior into a “right.” Especially when,
the Deputy  Prime Minister Ann McLellan is on record
as saying about a Liberal government:  "Let me state
again for the record that the government has no
intention of changing the definition of marriage or of
legislating same-sex marriages.” Questions need to be
asked about what is going on in parliament and in the
supportive liberal media?  A media columnist had this
to say about his media cohorts “strongly” supporting
same-sex marriage:

“Same-sex marriage a few weeks ago seemed to have been
rolling home, backed strongly by most of the media I
read or watch -- reporters, editors, TV producers, and
entertainers.”
( Douglas Fisher, columnist, Ottawa Sun, January 23,
2005.)

The media are supposed to “search for truth” which
raises the question: Why are most of the media not
raising the fact that; “same-sex marriage” was never
in the Charter? Are they Liberal lap dogs? One also
wonders, how many of these media are members of the
National, Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association of
Canada (NLGJA)? Of course many journalists are in
trade unions and most of their unions are affiliated
with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC). The CLC and
most unions are big supporters of gay rights and
same-sex marriage. Which makes one wonder did they
poll their membership individually on these issues?
The media never ask the labour bosses these questions.
Or how much money the unions are giving to special
interest groups from compulsory union dues.

“A coalition of visible minorities and human-rights
groups accused Conservative Leader Stephen Harper
yesterday of fuelling racial intolerance through a new
ad campaign that speaks out against same-sex marriage.
…The attack, from 200 minority rights and labour
supporters from across Canada, undermined the
Conservatives' attempts to target voters in ethnic
groups…” (The Vancouver Province Mon 24 Jan 2005.)
Note: My website http://www.oocities.org/graysinfo
lists a number of special interest groups who have
received trade union time and money and taxpayers
dollars over the years.

It would have been nice if the Vancouver Province had
asked this “coalition and labour supporters” if they
had asked their memberships views on “same-sex
marriage.”  Oh well this is “investigative journalism”
at its best.

Of course the media are not biased, are they? It’s
just coincidence that they nearly all are screeching
from the “same-sex marriage” songbook, despite the
fact that this tune  was never in the Charter.  Yet,
they criticize anyone who is opposed to this Charter
lie, as “noxious,” “intolerant” of spreading a “froth
of fundamentalism and bigotry,” and being opposed to
“tolerance” and “spreading hate.”  To read  and hear
these sodomy supporting scribblers, in full rhetorical
flight, is to see and hear propaganda at its biased
best. But hey, this is “investigative journalism” in
Canada today.  Media misinformation and manipulation
of the facts is the forte of today’s wizards of the
written and spoken word. So in a sense they are soul
mates of devious politicians.

Questions also need to be asked about some
politicians. Should they continue to hold public
office when they continue to impose on the country a
“right” that is a figment of judicial imagination and
was never in the Charter? Are they beholden to special
interest groups. Do these groups  have undue influence
on the government?  And are the people of Canada being
betrayed by deceitful politicians and media?
