Watching The Political Farce Unfold By Stephen Gray Around 40% of the people have given up voting in a federal election and it is easy to understand why. We see politicians who have been elected under the banner of one political party deciding to join the political party they opposed and criticized. Do they have no shame, no principles and no honesty? Though in politics today this kind of behaviour is “normal.” Politics is a game played by an “elite” and the people are only allowed to play the game when an election is called. People are told: “If you don’t vote you don’t have any say.” As if they did anyway, most of these political reprobates do whatever they like. Anyway, around 60% dutifully turn out, still believing their vote makes a difference. They vote, then get punished by the politicians who now rule over them. These political charlatans use the system for all they can get and all they can take from the people in taxes. The taxpayers are the new serfs of the modern world, always there to be abused and used by these political “elites” who use coded words to lull the people into submission. In their political language they tell the people they are “moderate” and have “mainstream values.” They proclaim they are “middle of the road” and that their policies are “centrist.” They are “fiscally conservative” but “cash constrained.” They believe in “freedom” but there is a “democratic deficit.” They have “visions” and “plans” for the country. But what does it all mean? Translated all this means: Political names may change but political policies will stay the same. The people will be shafted, grafted and taxed ever afterwards once these politicians get voted into office. Any decent politician who attempts to change the system will be undermined by some in his own party. It is easily done. Run two or three stalking horses for the establishment. Then their supporters will coalesce around one horse of the establishment for the “leadership vote.” The fix is then in and the politician who wants to change the system is defeated by the system. You don’t believe me. Well just look at the names and faces lining up as “advisers” and “handlers” in a certain leadership race; many are part of the front room and back room manipulators of the political system. They live off it. These are the “wise men” from the east who do not want to go west. At one time holders of political office were people who were mostly paragons of virtue. They abided by rules of behaviour and principles. If any were caught out in lies or aberrant behaviour or questionable ethics they resigned in shame. These days they have to have a political appointee called an “ethics counsellor” to tell them what is right or wrong. Which raises the question: Why is an “ethics counsellor” even needed? Sensible people should know what is right or wrong. This present day crop of politicians mostly have no shame and will not resign no matter what. We are witnessing a political system being destroyed by politicians. A system where friends of friends get contracts. Where taxes are forgiven to a political appointee and the taxpayer as usual picks up the tab. Where most of them vote for what is politically correct rather than what is politically right. Where most will do and say anything to get votes. They not only talk out of both sides of their mouth but other cavities as well. Most of them stand for nothing and will support anything no matter how bizarre. We have a political circus which sometimes can be seen on television with political performers acting out the script. This is how they spend our tax dollars, in a make believe political world far removed from reality and scripted accordingly. Cosseted and closeted in their own House of Disrepute - yakking and slacking and pretending they are doing the “peoples’ business.” Instead they are doing it to the people. In a real job many of them would be fired for incompetence. But in this House, incompetence is a virtue and competence is a vice. They cannot be fired until the next political farce - called an election and even if that happens many of them will have indexed pensions for life. Some will even recycle themselves back into the political system. They are gluttons not for punishment but for patronage. It is said the people get the government they deserve. But do the people deserve this so-called “democratic system” that has become an eastern monopoly and a political farce?
