In the Land of Make Believe
By Stephen J. Gray What would a visitor see in the Land of Make Believe? The visitor would see many-millions of taxpayers dollars going to a rich conglomerate’s family for a “dream” of a “Human Rights Museum.” ( One would think wealthy people should pay for their own dreams. But I digress.) Meanwhile, taxpaying people are dragged before so-called “Human Rights Commissions (HRCs) for daring to voice their opinions in a supposed “democracy.“ Oh well, at least there is going to be a “human rights museum” even though there is no “human right” to free speech, noted, the visitor. The visitor might also see men marrying men, and women marrying women on display in this museum, after all, this is surely a “human right!?” And an old duffer on TV was heard to say to a politician, “congratulations on your marriage.” This man politician had “married” another man. Which one of these two is the “husband” of the other is a matter for conjecture. But hey, this is the Land of Make Believe. In this land of make believe a human butcher who kills innocent human life, might also have pride of place in any “human rights museum.” His name has been mentioned over the years for the land’s “highest honor.” Honoring a killer is considered “legitimate” by some people. Meanwhile, in the highest court, in the land of make believe, an “esteemed” judge declared orgies were okay as long as no “harm “ was done. Now debauchery was spreading across the land in some clubs and bathhouses. In the House of Nonsense “decorum” was always practiced. The inhabitants barked insults at each other like trained seals and banged their desks whenever one of them had made a good insult against the opposition. Still, it was all good fun and they all got paid for making clowns of themselves. It was rumored that there might be an election soon, and that the winners would be in charge of the House of Nonsense. Then they would have a mandate to impose more nonsense on the people. The people in the Land of Make Believe were very law abiding. No matter how much they were taxed or their freedoms taken away, they continued to believe they lived in a democracy. Free speech in this “democracy”- as mentioned earlier was decided by Human Rights Commissars (HRCs) and if a person was dragged before them there was no hope of justice. Justice was only allowed for certain powerful minorities who were always whining about being persecuted and attacked. One powerful minority had lobbied for the setting up of these Human Rights Commissars and they got their wish. The rulers of the land always paid homage to this noisy group. Criticizing this group could get one declared a persona non grata. This was the most dreaded word in the land, for to be called a persona non grata could bring down the wrath of the politically correct media and ruin one’s reputation for life. Gee, I hope I am not declared a persona non grata for stating the truth. But hey, the truth is not a defense in the Land of Make Believe. But, I digress. In this fairy tale land, criminals and perverts had rights because this was a “righteous” land. (Now that is an awful pun) In this land of the “righteous” one could be made to believe anything, because this was the land of make believe. If a person refused to believe in the ongoing nonsense and wrote letters to the newspapers opposing it, they could lose their job. The jackboots of political correctness had the population terrified and to be an “unbeliever” brought shame and disaster on those opposed. Even the rulers of the land were afraid to disband the HRCs even though they had created these monsters. And the present government of the land had told its followers in a “memo” not to comment about the HRCs. This government had become as politically correct, like all the others before them. Now reps of this government were phoning people and asking them will you vote for our ruler in the next election. But, the thinking people had had enough of this make believe B.S. and pretend “accountability.” If this government did not have the courage to defend free speech why would anyone vote for them and any of the other political cowards in the House of Nonsense? As you can see by this fairy tale, the visitor to the Land of Make Believe was not impressed. Stephen J. Gray February 27, 2008. graysinfo@yahoo.ca website: http://www.oocities.org/graysinfo |
