A Ring On My Finger

By Stephen Gray

Note: can be sung to the tune of that beautiful Irish love song “Mother Machree”

There’s a ring on my finger

That I’m calling my own

It’s worth fifty grand

And it’s not out on loan

There’s a ring in my pocket

That’s safe and secure

That I’m calling my own

For ever, ever more

There’s a ring that was stolen

But I’m not a thief

I only pocketed it

And that’s a relief

Sure I love it’s great beauty

And its sparkle so nice

Can stealing a ring

Be an unknown vice

I look at my hands

So pretty and fair

And I wonder out loud

“Does anyone care?”

The ring is gone now

It’s left me alone

Oh, I feel so lonely

Without my stone

Still never mind

I remember its aura

Too bad those premises

Had me on camera
