The State of Politics

By Stephen Gray

The government is still fighting the slurs on its “good name” over missing money. But, it is felt, all will turn out well in the end for them. They have many supporters in the eastern part of the country. Most of these eastern camp followers pay no attention to the allegations of theft of their hard earned tax dollars, nor do they listen to those who say there is corruption in the halls of power. Still, rumors of a snap election persist. It is felt most faithful eastern supporters and a few politically challenged supporters in the west will still return the ruling party to office should there be an election. These people from the east are “dependable,” no matter how much they are taxed, robbed and lied to; they still want more of the same. One might call them consistent in their blind faith or of having faith in their political blindness. Still, the east is where the political numbers and seats are and they decide who wins in an election. The western part of the country is a participant in a stacked numbers game. Numbers of seats count and the west does not have them. Still, at least the west is allowed to vote in this “tolerant” society ruled by the eastern majority.

In breaking news from the east, evidence from an inquiry states that the governing political party got kickbacks in exchange for handing out contracts. Does anybody believe the government would be involved in this type of corruption? Surely not! Political life is hard these days for bent liberals, oops, I mean those of liberal bent. To paraphrase an old saying: They must learn to take the slings and arrows of an outrageous fortune of $100 million dollars being allegedly misused, in a unproven group action by persons not yet in jail. Could these allegations be serious for the governing party? The answer is: probably not. A big eastern province can usually be counted on to vote them back into power. No matter what, or whatever transpires, they are conditioned to vote Liberal. Perhaps political scientists will do a study one day of these people to see what goes on in their heads. Meanwhile, the other big eastern province is in the hands of the separatists. This is a province that has benefited from liberal largesse over the years and gets to call the shots on whatever it desires. The heads of all political parties constantly pay homage to it. It is now alleged that huge sums of taxpayers' dollars were diverted to this province to “save the country.” This “saving” of the country resulted in the separatists now having more influence than ever. They even got some of the alleged “dirty money.”

The opposition parties are confused as to whether they should bring down the government over this alleged malfeasance of taxpayers finances. It has been reported they are waiting to see the latest polls on this latest political scandal. One would have thought that political morality would dictate that they would bring down the government in an attempt to clear the polluted political air. But, it seems polls take precedence over political principles.

However, some people believe political principles were ditched a long time ago. And that the present allegations of “kickbacks,” “fraud” and “money laundering” are signs of a deeper rot within the political system. Some politicians have stated that the government has “lost its moral authority.” Let’s face it, politics and most politicians dumped morality a long time ago. Long held taboos are now declared as “rights” and wallowing in political manure is now the norm. This latest scandal is just a continuation of the descent into political degradation by our rulers. Therefore one has to be cynical at the professed outrage by most of the media and politicians of different political stripes. Their squeals over this wrongdoing is surely hypocritical. Many of these people were supporters of all the filth that has polluted the country over the last number of years: abortion on demand, so called “same-sex marriage,” proposed legalization of marijuana and prostitution, free needles for junkies, “safe houses” to shoot up illegal dope, a child porn law that is inadequate, criminals and terrorists loose in the country, criminals in jail declared “morally worthy to vote” by politically appointed judges, and the list goes on. Filth is approved and begets more filth. So the latest information on corruption in politics is just another sign of the disease of immorality that is spreading and is entrenched in the halls of power. There is no accountability within the system except at election time and then the people can vote out those they consider incompetent or unscrupulous or vote them back in, as in the case of the liberal east. Those politicians who are given the order of the boot retire on big fat pensions and some even become “eminent persons.” The people need a mechanism to remove politicians immediately if there has been evidence of unsavory or immoral behavior. At one time when politicians were found out to have misused public office they resigned in shame. Now they cannot be shamed and will not resign. Instead they get standing ovations for defending corrupt practices in the House of Shame that is called parliament. This then is the state of politics.
