March 11, 2005 - Charlotte Bobcats at Philadelphia 76ers - Philadelphia, PA 12:00 AM: Well, I'm a few hours removed from having covered my first NBA game. I got there at about 4:45 and went into the press room. I hung around in there until the locker rooms opened at about 5:30. I talked to Kyle Korver, Kevin Ollie, and even got a question in with Jim O'Brien. After all that, I then proceeded to find my seat, which was 5th row behind the baseline. I had a great view of Emeka Okafor dunking on Samuel Dalembert and a few ridiculous Andre Iguodala alley-oop dunks. After the Sixers got done reaming the Bobcats, I walked across the court to a room in which press conferences were being held. First Allen Iverson was up there, then coach O'Brien. Then everyone makes their way to the locker room, so I followed suit. There, I got to talk to Samuel Dalembert, Andre Iguodala, Chris Webber and Allen Iverson. Getting to interview Iverson was a pretty big deal for me, pretty neat experience. Hopefully I can get up to another game this year, but if not, this was an incredible experience I'll never forget. |
