2/11/05 - Hershey Bears (Colorado Avalanche) @ Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins)

OK, so now that I actually have some time to write about this experience, I guess I will.  I'm on the train to the Knicks game two days after this all went down, so this will give me plenty of time.  So, I got up to the hotel at about 4:30.  The arena was within walking distance, so I walked over and got there at about 5:30.  I picked up my press pass and headed down to ice level, where they have a pregame meal for the media.  There was a pretty good spread, but I only grabbed a ham sandwich and a Pepsi.  After I finished eating all that with an Ottawa Senators scout, I headed up to the press box on the suite level.  The seating was assigned, and I was right up front.  A huge stack of game notes and other material was at my spot, waiting for me.  Not bad.  So eventually, the game got underway and the Bears got out to a quick 2-0 lead.  And while the Penguins put up 42 shots, it wasn't enough and Hershey held on to win, 2-0.  Peter Budaj, their goalie, was amazing.  And although I was pleased that I finally got to see Fleury play, I was worried that talking to him after the game might be rough.  After a tedious press conference with the coach, I got to interview Fleury, and it was great.  I talked to Ramzi Abid as well, and the whole experience was just great.  I'll be going to Hartford on the 23rd for a game, so hopefully that goes well also.
