the cry of the watchman
APPENDIX #2

How to test the spirits

ask the right questions in the right way

But by asking the right questions in the right way you can remove the veil.  If you don’t know the right questions to ask, then ask, and ask again.  Ask point and counter point.  Eventually you will ask the right question.  You must seek to understand the responses of both sides in the conflict.  Work the questions from several different angels.  You goal should be to understand the true spiritual nature of all the events.

winnow out the truth

You will discover that you can winnow out the truth by this method.  Do not be satisfied with the first or second answer given to you by just one side.  This is just the starting point, and you cannot discern the lie if you stop at that point.  Instead, you will become a victim of the lie, and a propagator of the lie.

consistency will aid in discernment

Ask and ask again from different angles and from both sides.  Then inconsistencies and hidden motives, as well as the truth will come to light.  When the answer is deep and is of spiritual nature, the witness of the Word, consistency throughout, including consistency with the history of the situation, and the witness of other Christians, will aid in discernment.

filter everything you read

Now is the time for you to filter every news report you see and read.  You filter the reports by winnowing out the grains of truth.  You winnow for truth in the same way you winnow the worthless chaff from the grain.  Toss everything up into the wind, the good and the bad, and keep tossing.  Eventually all the chaff will blow away and the grain will fall back at your feet.

let go of all assumptions about the subject

To toss all the information to the wind, you must let go of it all.  You cannot retain anything for your self.  Do not judge least you are judged.  You must let go of all your presuppositions regarding the subject at issue.  Blow the dust off the subject so you can see clearly.

use the same wind that solomon used

Use the same wind Solomon used when he winnowed for the truth.  Ask questions that put the recipients under pressure and cause the revealing of motives.  The conformation will come by the witness of the spirit after you have asked the right questions and received the right answers and discerned the motives behind the lies.

put yourself in the situation

To ask the right questions, you must put your self into the situation.  What opposite motives would you have if you were in the same situation?   Remember that the propagandist uses doctrines of deception, events of deception, and words of deception.  They are the opposite of the truth.

ask the theme of the report

You must ask, what is the theme of the report?  Generally a lie is the exact opposite of the truth.  You must create alternative explanations of the events.  Begin with an explanation that is the exact opposite of those presented in the report.  Is there any way that the exact opposite explanation could be credible?

ask about motives

One of the most important questions for you to ask is “What motives are they attributing to the subjects in the report?”  Then ask yourself, if you were involved in the actions described, what you be your motives?  You will find that the answer is often very different than the new report is giving.

seek discernment the way solomon did

Seek discernment the way Solomon did.  He asked questions that force the revealing of true motives and actions.  Ask the same question of both sides.  Do not accept the answer of one side without hearing the answer from the other side.  Put them under pressure with your questions.  If your questions do not put them under pressure, they are not good questions.

use opposing questions

On many occasions, the questions that will put them under pressure are the questions and points of the other side.  State the explanation of the events that are given by both sides, and ask for a response.

deceit is always a thin veneer: sufficient questions will get past the veneer

The purpose of lying is to deceive.  No mater how hard the deceiver works, it is always a thin veneer over the truth.  The liar does not want you to seek a response from the other side.  The liar wants you to accept his first explanation, he does not want you to stop and pick at the subject and dig any deeper.  He does not want you to weigh the opposing responses in the balance.  But this is what you must do.

the truth teller does not mind you digging

The truth teller does not mind your digging.  If you do not know how to ask alternative questions, the truth teller will gladly show you the two sides of the issue.  You will know he is really doing truth by his giving you opposing source information created by the other side.  Then he will tell you why he is convinced his side is the truth.  Remember that the liar does not want you to have any understanding.  He will not give you source information from the other side.

seek knowledge of the context of the event

Furthermore, you can help reveal the true nature of actions by gaining knowledge of their context.  Ask the question, ‘In what context did the events happen?’  Without giving a correct answer to this question, you are cut off from the past, and you become ripe for deception by any that may wish to deceive you.  Remember that in all wars there are many who wish to deceive you.

are the lies orchestrated?

Are the lies numerous, and constant, and do they follow one theme.  When the lies follow one constant theme and are consistent with each other, but are inconsistent with events and motives of the present and the past, then the lies are orchestrated.

orchestrated news is released at an opportune time

Orchestrated news reports will generally be released when the largest audience will be watching.  You can know that a propaganda blizzard is being released when you see the reports greatly increase in number on the weekend.  These weekend reports are not true event reporting because true event reporting is done immediately after the event occurs.

true news events are not subject to time control

With true event reporting there is no control over the time of the event or over the time of it’s reporting.  Even then, discernment is called for so you can understand the true nature of the event, which is the true motive behind the subjects of the event.  You need to understand how the event fits into the pattern of events that is revealed by the motives.

A quitter is a loser.  Someone is truly a looser if they have no goals.  How can I know if you are a spiritual loser?  Simply by asking you if you have any spiritual goals.  But you too can become a winner of beautiful clothes, a handsome stallion, an awesome home, and a glorious crown.  And the victory is coming soon.  But it will not come if you do not have any spiritual goals.  Here is something thrilling.  His coming is so soon; you need to concentrate on creating and accomplishing short-term goals.
