Feb. 18, 2006    Trip to Killdeer Plains
Many are called, but few are frozen....

Members of three Ohio Audubon societies met at the Sportman's Facility at Killdeer Plains for some pleasant conversation and a chance to take shelter from the bitter wind.  Sightings and strategies for the afternoon plan of attack were compared over bag lunches.  Making the most of the large windows and balmy temps inside, several folks broke out the scopes for the viewing enjoyment.  Although the bitter winds tried the resolve of the best of birders, the bright sunshine had the raptors up and about for a particularly good air show.

Raptors seem to highlight any trip to Killdeer's grasslands, but today's sunshine had them out in full force.
