Gundam Wing Endless Waltz

Endless Waltz picks up where the T.V episodes left off, it is a sequel and prequel
to them. It consist of three episodes:
Silent Orbit
Operation Meteor
Return to Eternity

The year is A.C. 196 {X-MAS Eve}, one year after peace had been won by the Gundams.
The Space Colonies and the Earth Sphere Alliance peacefully united forming the Earth Sphere United Nation(ESUN). But as long as there are people there will always be wars, right?

Mariemaia sure thinks so, and she comes equiped with her own army
and Serpent Mobile Suits. She is the leader of Colony L3-X1899. After taking Relena Peacecraft, Vice Foriegn Minister of the ESUN, hostage, Mariemaia declares her colony's indepence from the Nation and WAR against the Nation.

We need the Gundams!
Sadfully 4 of them are on their way to the Sun in a disposal Satelite. After peace was acheived what need was there for them? This is what Quatre thought and figured they should dispose the Gundams in the sun. All agreed except Wufei, but hey, he never agrees with anyone.

So just who is this little troublemaker really?
Well, she is very little; try 7 years old. Mariemaia is the daughter of the deceased Treize Khushrenada, the former leader of OZ. Every good leader has their right-hand man, right? Mariemaia's is her grandfather Dakim Barton.

Mariemaia belives that she is carrying out her fathers will and fulfilling his ideals but,
"She doesn't realize she's merely a puppet controlled by Dakim"[Preventor Une]

Dakim Barton is probably the evilest character in GundamW.
He devised the original Operation Meteor plan of dropping a colony on Earth, which would kill billions. Since it wasn't carried out successfully the first time, he is now trying again by manipulating an innocent 7 year old who is his own flesh and blood.

Where is Everyone?
Well, lets see: Relena is being held hostage by Mariamaia, Heero goes to rescue her, Duo tags along with Heero, Quatre goes with the Maganac Corp. after the disposal satelite to retreive the Gundams, Trowa leaves Catherine and the Circus and joins Mariemaia's army, Wufei is already there to greet Trowa with a nice sword in the face, Noin Sally and Une are preventers trying to bring Mariemaia down, Zechs comes back from the dead and joins the preventers with the code name 'Wind'.

Watch Endless Waltz

Shin Kidousenki Gundam Wing Endless is truly a masterpiece. I had only seen a few episodes of Gundam before I watched it but decided to watch EW when it came on Cartoon Network, not knowing it was the conclusion to GW. When it was over I was like 'Whoa, that was pretty damn good.' I had taped it so I watched it again and again and again. Each time it got better and more clearer. Face it- none of Gundam ever comes out perfectly clear the first time around. After the English version I of course had to see the Japanese version and hey, that was even better(no edited language and blood!).

The animation of Endless Waltz is captivating and the redesign of all the Mecha is amazing, Especially Wing ZERO. I was at first confused by the changes in the Gundams appearances but now truly love all the redesigns bettter then the originals. They were courtesy of the superstar designer Hajime Katoki.

One other personal perk of EW to me, is getting to see Trowa and Wufei in the Mariemaia Army. They both look so GOOD in the Army Uniforms. I always compare them to looking like boyscout outfits but hey, they look GOOOD! In the picture above we get a look at all the guys in the uniform (KAWAII!).

Episode Summaries

Silent Orbit

The year is A.C. 196, there has been a full year of peace since the Gundams acheived it.
Quatre and Duo send a disposal satelite towad the sun containing their Gundmas plus Trowa's and Heero's. As long there is peace there is no need for the Gundams, right?
Wufei deicded not to send his.
Noin, Sally, and Une are now all Preventers, which is a group financially supported by the gov. to put out the small 'fires' that could lead to war. Sally comes across some Neo Titanium in space which would be used to make mobile suits. This is a small 'fire' because mobile suits = war get it? They look into finding where it came from.
Relena is now Vice Foreign Minister Darlian and visited Colony L3X18999; while there she is taken hostage by the Mariemaia army.
At the Circus, Trowa encounters some men from the Barton Foundation and remembers/flashesback to when the REAL Trowa Barton showed fake Trowa a picture of his sister Leia's daughter, Mariemaia[The REAL Trowa's niece].
Heero learns about Mariemaia and of Relena's kidnapping so decides to go to the L3X... Colony. Duo goes with him.
Dakim Barton(Mariemaia's Grandather) is talking to a large number of Mariemaia soldiers. Among them is Trowa. Dakim suddenly calls out Trowa nad fires one shot at him. Trowa did his signature triple spin in the air and landed in front of Dakim drawing his own gun out, but he is stopped by none other then Wufei who appears next to Dakim with a large sword in Mariemaia soldier uniform.
Sally finds out that the Neo Titanium is from the colony L3X1899 an the leader of that colony is Mariemaia Barton.
Relena wakes up and finds herslf in the same room with a little girl. She asks the girl if she was also kidnapped and the little girl tells her, No, she was the one who had Relena kidnapped. She also tells her that her name is Marimaia Khushrenada the daughter of Treize Khushrenada. Mariemaia tells Relena not to try anything funny and she will find out what they will do with her soon enough.
While on the shuttle to the Colony Heero falls asleep and we are shown a flashback that reveals an important yet tragic event in his life:
Heero was on a mission on some Colony. He had just planted explosives throughout a base. It was a bright sunny day and Heero laid in some grass and actully smiled. A little girl with a dog came over to him and asked him if he was lost. "I've been lost ever since the day I was born" he replied. The girl told him that was sad, and she wasn't lost, she was walking her dog Mary. She then gave Heero a flower and was pulled away by an excited Mary. That night Heero pressed the detonation button to the explosives, "Mission Complete" he stated as the base went up in flames. But then a blast hit a standing mobile suit which caused it to topple over into civilian buildings/homes causing a domino affect and destoying a very large area. Heero was shocked. The next morning Heero stood among the reckage and found Mary dead. He picked her up and also had the flower from the little girl.
Duo woke Heero up and Mariemaia made a statement to all of space and Earth. She declared Colony L3X18999's independence from the Nation and War against the Nation. She also announced she was the daughter of Treize Khushrenada.
Preventer Une talked on the phone with the angry President who said the Preventers were getting well paid to prevent an event like this from happening. Une tried to expalin that they had been preparing to declare war even before the Preventers were formed but the President hung up on her. Then a shadowed man with a familiar voice entered Une's office requesting the code-name Wind appropriate for one who puts out fires. [It's Zechs if you haven't figured it out]
Heero and Duo make it into the Colony with assistance from Sally and Noin.
Quatre feels guilty about originating the idea to send the Gundams into the sun now that they are needed. So he goes after them with the Maganac Corps.
In the Colony Duo and Heero each take over a mobile suit. Duo finds himself facing off against Trowa who is in a new model mobile suit, Trowa attacked Duo. Heero faces off against Wufei who says "I always wanted to have a chance to fight you like this" Wufei is in Altron and launches a full attack on Heero. Wufei closes this episode with the line: "I'm asking, are you guys doing the right thing?!"
