Prineville Oregon Memorial For the firefighter fatalaties on the Storm King fire in Colorado in 1994 |

IIn 1996, I had the opportunity to visit the memorial monument for the victims of the Storm King Mtn. tragedy. This memorial is in in Prineville Oregon, where many of the victims worked out of. While I did not know any of the firefighters who died in that incident, when looking at the faces of those we lost I sure recognized each and every one of them. Those of you in the wildland fire field, especially the jumpers and shots will know what I mean.

Looking back up the trail from the monument. Along the trail is 20 large stones. 14 of them have a bio of one of the fallen firefighters, the other 6 discuss various aspects of wildland firefighting. |

The Wildland Firefighter Foundation is a non-profit corporation.
