The number of visitors to our national parks increases every year, with the heaviest usage in the summer months. With many parks closed in the winter months, there is a small window of opportunity in late spring and early fall. Consider a visit during these times when park traffic is reduced.

Our national parks by their very nature are full of multiple hazards. Likewise, visitors can have negative impacts on the parks. Please become familiar with and follow all park rules. Rules are in place not only to protect the delicate features of the heavily traveled parks, but are also there to protect you. Feeding, harassing, or simply just getting too close to wildlife puts you and the animal in danger. The acts of littering, writing graffiti, hiking in closed areas, or taking anything from a national park is not only unethical, but is against the law.
