| Contrary to popular belief, the assessor's office does not set the tax rate. We only value property at current market value, which means what it would sell for on the open market. The county tax rate is set each June by the elected county commissioners of Greene county. The city rate is set by the Board of Mayor and Alderman at the same time. |
