On a more serious note... | ||||||||||||||
Who else besides me is sick of these freakin' attacks that have been happening to the brothers. *raises hand* I am, other fans are, and I'm sure as Hell the boys are, too. I love the music and that's why I go to their concerts. When I've heard about this kind of bull shyst, I've been about to cry! They do this for the music! Not to get groped by phycopathic fans who are in a frame of mind involving unrequited love! What the heck! If people are going to give them this kind of terrifying shit, Hanson may was well quit touring all together, and make LP's. I love the music, and hey, I'd be fine with that. Now onto the reading... The first time I had heard about it was when I was on AOL instant messanger, talking to someone who had just heard about an "attack" as I will lightly put it onto Taylor. This was wrong, I had thought at first. "Wasn't security tight enough?" I asked. Apparently not. Crazy fans like the ones that "attack" ruin the fun for the rest of the group. As for me, I have too much decency and respect to actually do such a thing like that, and I'm postitive that there's plenty of other fans that feel the same way. Anyway, I was just mortified at such lewd conduct that was displayed by a fan. I happened to be at the Philidelphia Concert and some girl ran on stage, hugging Taylor as a security gaurd pulled her off him. "I think she likes me," Taylor joked, he sounded like he was trying to laugh it off, but I really do feel bad for the poor boy. Not to mention he didn't go to one side of the stage after a bunch of girls rushed over to that side when he was getting close. I've heard of worse. The Phili concert was MILD compared to others, I'm sure. I've heard of the guy, and all the other horror stories. If I was Hanson, I'd fear for my life! On my way back to my ride home, I overheard some girls that were saying how they wanted to be in Taylor's pants. NOW THAT WAS JUST WRONG, not to mention lewd (they were problably the lecherous type, too). If you want to talk about that kind of stuff, do it somewhere else. Not in a street. THINK OF LITTLE KIDS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN OUT THERE!? To me, their music is the driving force while their looks are just one of the little beinifits that happen to come with them. If I was to hang out with them for a day, the perfect day would be just talking about music, religon, and pretty much anything. As you know by now, I do happen to poke fun at Taylor a lot, but I'm not serious about it. Him and his brothers I see as the ideal friends that I have always wanted, not to mention that they remind me of my frist friend in kindergarten (who was a boy) who moved away over the summer when we were about to go into first grade. The worst thing I suggest doing at Hanson's concerts is throwing guy's underwear on stage instead of women's! I really would never do some of that except for a sign or two to make them laugh a little. To me, Taylor appears to be a wonderfully kind, intelligent, sensitive person (not to mention hilarious in his sarcasm) if you learn to observe. That goes for Isaac and Zac, too. Strange as it is, I have to admit openly that I have had experiences, problably not as traumatizing as Taylor's, that have made me become almost a recluse, cloistering myself away from the rest of the world. In sixth grade, I was sexually harassed by a group of boys who would stalk me at my recess, lunch and would make me the target of their sexual jokes that I was absolutely oblivious to. They had said I was a boy, that I was a lesbian (which I AM NOT, Thank God), and many other things that I do not feel I can go on about because of how sensative I am about divulging in detail about them. Even up through today, I am still harassed once in a while. The last incident was some kids repeatedly touching my butt on the way out from lunch, and I should have turned around and open a can of whoop-ass on them, but I didn't. (My nature is usually the roll with the punches, a rather peaceful, passive kind of person) If you do a lot of role-playing, you'd see what I mean if you've walked a mile in those shoes. It's not pretty, and thanks to stupid boys like the ones I've encountered, I haven't been truely interested in any guy since sixth grade, I had fallen into depression in my freshman year of high school, and nor have I had any friends who are guys, let alone let anyone touch me (ie from pats on the back to hugs). Thinking about it brings tears to my eyes, even as I'm typing this, so I better not digress onto this subject again...*wipes a tear from her eye* Back on the subject, it broke my heart to hear about that. Terribly. I like Hanson because they are wonderfully talented young men who do what they love to do, and I want to know the minds behind the music that has moved and helped me through some terribly rough times at the end of seventh grade (when "MMMBop" was released) and up through today. If I was one of their friends, hearing about their incidents, I would give them a hug and be like "Oh you poor baby! (I say that to all my friends) Come, have a seat. If you need to cry, cry it all out, if you need to talk, talk until you feel you can't talk anymore. I've been down a similar path. I sympathize." Call me melodramatic, but I don't care. Not only was my name as a "fan" been tarnished by such irresopnisble people, but also it has ruined the band's wishes to interact more with the fans that have supported them through such a long waiting period. They are nice guys who are just trying to live their lives. Why can't some fan's see that they aren't immortal, and that they can get hurt? I like them all too much to do something as stupid as that. As you see, I feel very strongly about this issue. Below is a banner you can post on your site against it. I don't know how much it would really help, but I think that having someone out there that cares about another's well-being is enough to comfort anybody a little bit. |
