The Mission of the Church
The mission of the Church according to Scripture is to foster holiness and commitment in all who are part of the body of Christ. Not some pick and choose commitment to a select few principles at the detriment of the rest of God's instructions, but rather an across the board commitment to everything revealed as the Will of God. It's a package deal of all or nothing. There's no such thing as being partially saved from your sins is there? Commitment to the whole Will of God is an essential. History has proved that the Lord can use a few very committed people in great ways. History also records the shipwrecks of those who strayed from the whole counsel of God. They now serve God as bad examples. Woe unto you who fill your church buildings with "tire kickers" attracted by the Madison Avenue approach. Precedent seems to indicate these "nominal believers" will eventually drag down "the standard" to their comfort zone rather than becoming holy committed disciples themselves (God's Standard). When a church becomes more concerned with quantity than quality, it violates one of the immutable laws of God's economy. It has sowed the seed of it's own ultimate destruction as many failed businesses can testify.
