Gregorian Study Circle

Houston Chapter   Chicago Chapter   Mar Gregorios Memorial

Why study circle?
Imagine a group of people who meet occasionally. They sit in a circle, share their ideas and experiences, and study from one another. That is what we are. The only difference is that we don't meet in the traditional sense very often, but we meet online almost every day. Underlying this meeting is the belief that the world is primarily a place to learn and grow. It is always possible to learn new things if only we keep our minds open. One needs to continue a student all along the lifetime, and should be willing accept any person or situation as a teacher. Having this belief, its members are willing to learn from their own experiences as well as those of others. We are willing to learn from anyone irrespective of caste, creed, race, or color. Also we are willing to share what we know with anyone who is willing to listen.

Why "Gregorian"?

The Gregorian Study Circle (GSC) has got its name from Paulos Mar Gregorios, the world renowned philosopher from India, whose vision inspired the founder members of GSC to begin this. Mar Gregorios remained a student all along his lifetime. He used every opportunity to learn and grow. He was willing to learn from all people irrespective of their caste, creed, race, gender, or color.

We believe along with Mar Gregorios that
* God loves all human beings irrespective of their color, caste, race, gender, or religious beliefs.
* All religions should flow together without losing their identity, but understanding one another.
* All religions need to recreate the deepest levels of meaning for the human existence in personal and communal spirituality.
* All religions need to have a commitment to the welfare of the humanity: to justice, to peace, and to the maintenance of a healthy environment.
* The human race needs to move out of national patriotism to a planetary patriotism.

What are our activities?

We like to create opportunities to help people learn from one another by organizing events where people from various backgrounds can come together and learn from one another. This online forum is an excellent opportunity for us to meet and interact from anywhere in the world. We have organized conferences/seminars in connection with the death anniversary of H.G. Paulos Mar Gregorios since 2000. We encourage all the GSC members to meet locally as often as possible to study the thought and work of this great soul.

How can you participate?

You are welcome to be an active participant of Gregorian Study Circle. Try to study the thought of Mar Gregorios from whatever sources available to you, and then share with the others in this study circle what you have learned.
