Mariah Carey on the big screen

Mariah and acting:

Mariah from The Bachelor, (c)'99 New Line Cinema Prod. In her younger years Mariah always denied that she would have any interests in the acting career. Around the time of her divorce she started talking that she would like to try herself on the big screen.
She started taking acting lessons with the acting coach Sheila Grey five times per week. But this was not just another thing she wanted to do, it was more like a therapy for Mariah. Through her acting lessons she could find herself all over again.

She recalls her acting lessons (from Mariah Carey Revisited): "It's been an incredible release for me. I would come out of sessions emotionally drained, because I was getting in touch with all this stuff that I'd never really dealt with - even things from my childhood."

She said for the Mirabella interview: "... woking with Sheila has helped me so much in terems of feeling at ease with being myself. Yes, it's a glamorous prospect to be in movies, but for me, actin is about releaing emotions that I've kept locked indside for so long."

There is not much information on Mariah's acting and her movies yet, but we all wish her good luck. She has achieved her success in music through a lot of hard work, so there's no doubt that she won't be as great in her movies as she is in her music...

    Mariah and Chris O'Donnell...

"The Bachelor" is a romantic comedy about a bachelor played by Chris O'Donnell, who must get married in the next 24 hours in order to collect his inheritance of $100 million... Mariah plays a small role in this movie. She appears as O'Donnell's ex-girlfriend, who is an opera diva...

The filming started in November 1998. Mariah remembers this scene in the Mirabella magazine: "It's over the top. I'm singing La Traviata, which is a highly dramatic opera-and my character dies at the end of the scene. The director said, "Okay, you need a stunt double for that [fall] right?" And I said, "Nah, I can do that," not realizing that I was going to have to do 30 more takes. My hips, my knees were killing me. A medic had to bring me ice, and I was like, "Never again."
