Biography: Born at the Havens of Sirion, just before the end of the First Age. Manya was youngest of two children. As a child she preferred the woods to the sea, though she often sailed in her father’s ships. Due to her
aptitude for writing and grasp of language she was employed as a scribe. It was through this that she developed her interest for the history of Arda, but her love of the forests and night skies remained.
Once, east of the Ered Luin, she was waylaid by orcs and would have been slain had her brother not noticed her leave and been following her. Remembering his own love of the sea, he knew he couldn’t stop her from
exploring and vowed that next time she’d be able to defend herself. Calaglin taught Manya how to use the weapons he wielded. Manya’s wandering took her as far as Imladris, where she met Dolthalion, formerly of Nargothrond. He named her Meldaewen (dear shadow maiden) and they journeyed together for a year before Manya returned to Mithlond. She made many journeys throughout Eriador and came to know it thoroughly.
When the Last Alliance was formed, Manya could see history in the making, and followed their march to Imladris. Dolthalion was also in the company. She was unable to keep up the pace, and having none but her own skill to defend herself, lagged far behind. After a time in Lothlorien, she managed to continue her journey as far as the Morannon. She found the desolation of Dagorlad and lost hope of finding either Dolthalion or Calaglin.
Knowing she couldn’t wait for them, and not daring to enter Mordor alone, she turned aside and headed west over Anduin. In her time Manya has wandered over much of this land, sometimes settling strife between peoples. Many a traveller has found their path easier for her silent watch of enemies. She hasn’t wearied of Middle-earth yet, though many of her kin have left over the sea, and continues to find new places to explore and new histories to study.Regretting her long neglect of her home, she has only recently returned to the Grey Havens and now confines her travelling to the north of Middle-earth, though she seeks one last great journey, maybe her own place in the history she loves and knowledge of those lost to her before forsaking this land.
