GHS Rifle Team Shatters School Record!
For the forth time in the past five weeks the Griffin High School Rifle Team ventured into uncharted territory by establishing a new school scoring record in a 1139-1080 win over Bannekar High Thursday at the GHS Range.
It was Griffin's third consecutive win as the team improved to 4-1.
Bannekar (4-1) is on of the top teams in area V. They were within 20 points of their average in the loss.
Griffin Junior Jeremy Moore qualified for the individual State Match (April 15) by firing a personal best score of 287 out of 300. Moore fired a perfect 100 points in the prone position to lead the way to Griffin's victory. This is Moore's second week in a row in the lead spot.
Senior Timothy Bennett posted a solid second place performance with a 286. Senior Jennifer Lewis and Bennett were near perfect in both prone and kneeling dropping only 5 and 3 points respectively between the two positions.
Senior Joseph Mabry, Lewis and Freshman Jessica McClain all finished with the same score, 283. Senior Justin Lazenby was just out of the group in this GHS best ever winning effort.
