WHEELER FAMILY BIRTH AND DEATH RECORD
All families are bound to have a few skeletons in the closet somewhere.  Isaac Wheeler's mother was Jane Buckner (found possible reference to birth, 1841, Greene Co., Indiana). As a young girl, she got involved with a man named Isaac Jackman.  Isaac Jackman was also involved with another girl.  When he got both of them with child, he had to choose which one to marry.  He chose the other girl.  Both women named their sons Isaac Jackman.  When Isaac was 12 years old, his mother married Lemuel Wheeler, (Oct. 10, 1868 in Daviess Co., Indiana) who adopted him, so he became Isaac Jackman Wheeler.
One bright and shining light,
That taught me wrong from right,
I found in my mother's eyes,

Those baby tales she told,
That road all paved with gold,
I found in my mother's eyes,

Just like a wandering sparrow,
One lonely soul,
I walked the straight and narrow,
To reach my goal,

God's gift sent from above,
A real unselfish love,
I found in my mother's eyes.
The song playing is
"My Mother's Eyes"
In honor of my mother, Maude (Wheeler) Griffith
Isaac Jackman Wheeler
In every conceivable manner, the family is the link to our past, the bridge to our future.
With my skin cancer problem and recent surgeries, I am reminded of a story Mom told me years ago.

When Grandma Wheeler was a small girl she was standing behind a mule, and the mule kicked her in the face, ripping her nose off.

Her mother grabbed her, and picked up the nose, and ran to the house and got a new linen handkerchief. She put the nose back in place and bound it with the handkerchief and it grew back.

In those days people seldom went to doctors, they couldn't afford them, and many times the doctors did more harm than good, so they relied on home remedies. Fortunately, for Grandma, this home remedy worked.
