Over the course of the past few years, from before I wrote the very first words of "Hellbent" right up to my subsequent departure from the VS, I've begun and abandoned so many projects that it seems if I piled all these endeavors together I just might have enough for a novel.  Some, unfortunately, were lost in what has become known as "The Great Hard Drive Formatting Incident", others never even made it to the computer screen, residing somewhere in the scrapheap of papers in my drawers.  The few that pulled through, however, are presented here for the very first time, available to eyes other than my own.  I'm usually reluctant about sharing incomplete work, but in these cases it seems I may never touch these projects again, so it felt like a shame to leave them all to myself.  Therefore, rough, short, and incomplete as they are, they are here nonetheless for all to peruse.

All stories/scenes were written in screenplay format, and all are posted here as PDF files.  For those of you unable to view PDF files (shame on you), what are you waiting for?!  Download the PDF viewer by clicking here:    It's free!!!!

Here they are.  Enjoy!

STATIONS OF THE CROSS  (8 pages)
The full teaser and the first scene of Act 1.  The beginning is similar to my original Brimstone script "Good Friday", only I added the character of Julie O'Connor, a grade school teacher who would play a prominent role in this episode alongside Stone.  I thought the exchange here between Stone and the Devil was one of my better written ones.

HELLBENT  (17 pages)
This is the original VS pilot episode.  I got as far as Act 1 till I completely abandoned it in favor of the episode we all know and love today (hopefully).  It involved the biblical character Cain (yes, of Cain and Abel) who is able to possess the bodies of living humans.  The damned soul Kyle Carver appears here as well, only in this version he's not a damned soul at all, he's simply human.  I also introduced a new damned soul, Elixir, an 18th-century London prostitute.

DESCENT  (5 pages)
Here's a scene I wrote that was supposed to be the teaser to an untitled episode in Season 2.  After we last saw Lukas in Phil's great episode "This Mortal Coil", I wanted his return to Earth to be something fresh, gritty, and wild.  No waking up in subways or anything subtle like that.  I thought this was pretty cool.  I figure God has a pretty good sense of humor.

ELEMENTAL  (5 pages)
Ah, I had such high hopes for this episode.  This was supposed to appear somewhere in Season 3, and it was gonna be my triumphant return to classic Brimstone (hunting down a single damned soul as opposed to 5 or 10 per episode).  After I finished the teaser, my fire just fizzled out.  It sat in my hard drive for the longest time and never found its voice again.  A shame.

ICE AGE  (5 pages)
Another one I was really looking forward to writing and never got around to.  The teaser is kind of reminiscent of "Poem" from Season 1, but this episode was going to be anything but.  This was originally supposed to be the episode immediately following "Hell Gate Part II" in Season 3, as the dialogue will attest to.  Again, I think the conversation here between Stone and the Devil is one of my best.

SUBWAY HUNT  (3 pages)
This is just a random scene I wrote; didn't really fit any particular episode.  I was just trying to establish the character of Lukas for his eventual own series.  This is sort of a prequel to "Hellbent".

GODFLESH  (5 pages)
The very last thing I wrote, and my personal favorite.  I think there was no episode I was looking forward to writing more than this one.  This was gonna be my crowning achievement -- the darkest Brimstone episode ever.  Lukas's past was going to be explored in some detail, and Stone would have to face one of his most evil and powerful enemies yet.  This was also going to be the jumping point to the Lukas spin-off series.  I may still explore this plot in one form or another in the future.
