WHAT TO SAVE BEFORE A REINSTALL

From time to time most of us have to reinstall our worlds programme. to save yourself the pain of having to remeber ALL your worlds friends,plus remake your avatars and try and get your world marks back if you back-up 3 files you save it all.

first make a new folder somewhere on your pc (either in a back-ups directory or simply on the desk top) Once you have the new folder go into your worlds directory and look for the following files gamma.avatars gamma.worldsmarks worlds.ini once you have found them right click and select copy and then go to your new folder and paste the copies into it now you will not loose these if you need to reinstall. some people like to make a backup of these files every month...Just in case the unthinkable happens.... (the unthinkable being  when the pc thinks its a doorstop and refuses to work..lol)

(above) worlds.ini,this it located right at the bottom of the worlds directory and has that funny yellow circle on it. (below) right click and select copy.

Once you have copied each file you need to paste it into the new folder you just made. (you can copy the gamma.avatars and gamma.worldmarks together as they are next to one another within the worlds directory.) Once you have all 3 files in the new folder i find it best to date the folder so you know what date you saved it and just how old its getting.

After you have completed a successfull reinstall of the worlds programme you can copy these out of the directory and back into the worlds directory. make sure you are asked it you want to replace the file you are changing...(if you are not you have not imputed them correctly). when it does ask you if you wish to replace file gamma.avatars (example) click yes.
