Camelot

This placid lake, where the lady lives
this goddess that my future holds
is the essence of the bounty known
of my Kingdom of silver and gold.

My name is Arthur, a squire only
in this day of purity and honor
in this age of all I know as life
if I fail in this I am a goner.

Pull this sword that's trapped within this stone
and my fate shall be set as King
to have the faithful service of all the people
as they bow and kiss my ring.

Am I the man that fate has bestowed
this trust of life to all I meet
am I so worthy, as to be the one
to hold this Kingdom's seat?

This Wizard, Merlin, has spoken this
these words to all who come and go
so that they might have the knowledge pure
of the King that they'll soon all know.

I placed my hands upon the sword
locked deep within this stone
and although others could not release it
I pulled it easily as is now known.

I ask for nothing, was not worthy of
this gift that is now mine
but I offer up only my guidance which
I hope shall be considered fine.

For with the drawing forth this sword that has
been trapped within the stone so long
my aptitude of Kingship sent
shall never be guided wrong.

You, my people and my servants sent
to help me in my efforts cause
to lay down only the purest chance in life
to follow all my given laws.

I intend to be the honored King
for which you've always sought
and to supply to you the Kingship which
with your very lives you've bought.

You honor me, as you give your thanks
to this Throne that I now bear
so to all of you I offer up
this Honor that I wear.

I promise you a Kingdom such
as none of you could ever know
with all my guidance and worth to you
all the compassion I have to bestow.

I could never create your Kingdom thus
this heaven on earth that is coming to be
to have your faith and trust sent forth
this will be my gift from you to me.

The knowledge that's given from one so great
this Wizard who has come so far to help
who has given me such guidance since
I was only a young and innocent whelp.

This Wizard who became my father
guiding me through my youth into this man
arranging my life and aiming me towards
this goal that was always his ideal plan.

He has always known what would be my life
taking me slowly towards that end
making sure that my path was straight
always there to make sure my wounds would mend.

My great friend Merlin, as near a father
as any Magician could ever be
has always shown me the righter way
and so, made the very best man of me.

So now, here I sit upon this throne
To be the greatest King there was to ever live
to give all my people the very best life
that there was ever possible to give.

But as life would have it, villages rebelled
and tried to take what we had as our own
so, we we're left to defend our golden lives
for they would not leave my people alone.

So, as battles raged and wars began
our lives could never be the same
our families lost fathers and husbands oft,
and our master soldiers were sent home lame.

But we held our own, and fought with honor
and finally conquered to expand our lands
but we faced the dearest consequences
to see the truth as our dream kingdom expands.

This beautiful kingdom that we've set forth
upon these lands we call our own
Our Camelot, this Kingdom given us
from our blood or broken bone.

Our Knights have battled to secure for us
our families and our homesteads living
our needs have been supplied to us
by our soldiers fate in death so giving.

They have paved for us a better road
on which to tread our paths
and allowed us the presence which
to revenge for them their wrath.

So within the time allowed to us,
we shall perform our tasks
and prepare the ever giving chore
as we hide not behind our masks.

For we have now set before us all
a pleasure of life to live
within this pleasant and honored Kingdom
where we have all there is to give.
