A Grizzly Day
Winter was when
This lumbering bear
Entered his den
Slumbering fair
Waking so thin
To the thaw of Spring
He stirs again
And starts foraging
It's time for brunch
This ravenous bear
Follows his hunch
To a river there
And with skilled claws
The salmon red
Is scooped with paws
From the river bed
Salmon and caviar
All in one dish
Sates the bear's hunger
Except for one wish
The memory of sweets
In high mountain field
Wild berry treats
Such a succulent yield
This one happy Grizz
Takes delight in his day
The Northwest is his
In his season to play
With his every need met
By Nature's sweet care
Will he ever forget
His sincere feral prayer
Beneath shining sun
For all Nature to see
Thanking the One
That he's a Grizzly
For just how fair
And great it is
To be a bear
To be a Grizz

When the Grizz speaks
do you listen?
Do you really hear the words
that are pouring from his snout?
Have you ever paid attention,
complete attention to his mind?
To the ideas of him, ideas
of the things he thinks about?
Have you ever really considered
this Bear-like brain within the man?
Have you ever stopped to think
of what he writes to us when he can?
His words, they seem like magic
and they touch my heart and soul,
I know for sure, that it is this Bear,
who has shown how I can be whole.
Give this Man his credit
and appreciate who he is
cause he's a gracious and beloved Bear
and his name is forever--Grizz-

There's a bear
In the forest
Down by the lake.
You hear him growl
Sometimes
But his heart
Is bigger than his growl.
He fights when he has to
But he would far rather
Chill and go fishin'
Lifes too damn short
To be struggling
Especially
When the fishing
Is so damn good
something to someone
security is like a hug
from "something" big and strong
when feeling lost and lonely
"something" is there to make you feel
that you belong
"something" warm and fuzzy
"something" true to you
there is nothing like a hug to bear
to that there's nothing to compare
its nice when "something" is
"someone"

The Grizzly Bear
Inspiration sparked by the slightest thing
He writes his poems on the wing
Be it a picture, person or thought
His words spoken are never for naught
For though some may seem simple indeed
There is always a deeper meaning to heed
He looks for the truth in all that he sees
On a quest for knowledge, if you please
Always learning and wanting to share
He goes by the name of Grizzlybear
Though the grizzly may be thought of as mean
Things are not always as they seem
So open your eyes and unlock your mind
And you'll be surprised by what you find

Intimidating Grizzly
Large overpowering bear
Stands tall
Towers over his prey
Intimidates
With his size, his growl
Fear rushes through you
When you see
The razor sharp claws and teeth
The fear of every camper
The appearance of a bear
But seeing the Grizzly
Brings on a nightmare
He is alone
A survivor
Powerful and angry
Never hungry
And always gets what he wants
Intimidation and fear
His greatest assets
No matter where he goes
Man and beast scatter
And give him room
But inside the Grizzly
Lives a soft, sensitive, playful heart
A Grizzly that longs
To have friends
That longs to be loved
When he was young
It was ok to play, and have fun
Then he was cute
As time went by
He matured and grew
Those who thought he was cute
Now shudder with fear
He was taught to use this fear
To survive and rule
The powerful shell he lives in
Intimidates those around him
Hides the sensitive, caring heart
That still lives inside
The playful heart he never lost
He is seen, as others are taught to see him
Never the Grizzly
That really lives inside

Tracks of Man.
I see the tracks upon the snow, a creature has been near
A man so close beside my den, am I in danger here?
Should I ever fear the scent of man, as he does venture
by
Or is he only passing through, and paying me no mind.
It is almost time for me to slumber, here within my home
But will I rest in safety, so near to where men roam?
I have claws and teeth , and I can easily protect my broode
But perhaps they'll leave me peaceful, in keeping with my
mood.
Perhaps they only came to seek shelter and be warm
Leaving me peaceful in my home and wishing me no harm.
Yet, I think that soon, I shall venture deeper within the
glen
I see no sense in remaining here, and living this close
to men.
If only there were hunters to keep the men in check
For every year, more of nature's homes they wreck.
One must wonder what is running through their minds
When nothing but destuction is all they ever leave
behind.
I shall never understand the troubling thoughts of men
And I will leave them be, in the safety of my den.
I am always safe here, so let them tread their path
They'll soon see whats coming, when Mother Nature sends
her wrath.
