"Welcome To Angels Chronic Pain Haven"

Chronic pain can be a devastating experience. Unfortunately one that last
until you pass on to the next world. Soo, what can be done?

Well first let me tell you my experience. I have had chronic pain for 25 years.

I've been disabled from it for 15 years now. I have tried everything you
could name to control the pain. Pain clinics both physical & psychological,
accupunture, chiropractic, massage therapy, physical therapy, herbals, homeopathic,
you name it I have probably tried it.

Between my own physical experience and my experience

as a nurse for severely disabled children.
I have hopes that I will be able to help you in dealing with your own pain.
Not only have I had chronic pain for years I have also experienced
mental pain from the loss of a daughter to cancer, dealing with my
13 yr old sons cancer, the loss of a husband, the loss of my marraige
, home, and finances.

I can only tell you what has worked for me and others, that I have

come to know. I will also supply you with links that deal with chronic pain.

The first and formost is to accept that this is the way

things are. There are things you can do to help control the pain
but you will always have some pain. Learning to
accept this fate is the most difficult of all to do.
It wasn't until about 6-7 years ago that I finally accepted it
and started getting on with my life. One of the things
I do is to write these pages, in the hopes of helping
somebody else.

I also write to help deal with frustration, this was

something a psychiologist suggested to get things off my chest. I am one
of the lucky ones that was given the gift of poetry.
I write and it comes out in poetic form.
You can read some of my poetry on my poetry pages.
You do not have to be a poet for writing to help you.
It is getting rid of the negative feeling and replacing them
with positive feelings that helps.

I am finally with a good pain clinic. The doctors there are very caring

and seem to really understand chronic pain and the suffering we
go through. They don't rush in and out on you like you are just
a fleeting moment for them. They take time to really find out what
is going on and what the best treatment path might be. I am now
on pain medication that has my pain under reasonable control.

There is documentation

after documentation about the use of opiates for chronic pain.
People with chronic pain are not likely to become addicted to
these medications. The studies have shown that people with chronic pain
just want their pain under control. They take what they need to control
the pain and thats it. I am on Methadone now. Yes, I used to be afraid of using it.
After all it was used to get people off of drug. And yes I had a doctor
tell me I was an addict when I was just looking for control of my pain.
Luckily I now have a very good Doctor who expained how it worked and
the success they were having with chronic pain..He also explained
to me the difference between being a drug addict and being addicted
to a narcotic drug. Now this comes from one of my doctors at My pain
clinic in Arizona. Drug addict or Psychological addiction
is when somebody is using above and beyond the amount
needed for pain. They are needing the high, they constantly
run out of their control meds too soon, and seek drugs from
everywhere they can. Physical addiction is what somebody on
regularly prescribed pain medication (like those of us in chronic pain).
Narcotics are physically addicting you have to be weaned off ,
if you are out of medications you will have some withdrawel
symptoms. This is normal! So don't let some doc
overprotective of his license and not protective of your welbeing
treat you like a skid row bum!

I still have my good and bad days . But, life is much more tolerable. With some of the new treatments and

procedures they have now. We have many more choices and safer
things to try in controling our pain. Take care and feel better O;-)
