| THUNDERHILL PARK January 26, 2002 |
| It was a really fun day up at Thunderhill Raceway Park. Mike and I (Grant...yeah, we left Kim at home. Bad husband!) drove up North to Thunderhill to take his VW GTI (with special suspension and a performance chip) on the track, and I went along as a passenger. That's him on the left, and above he's chasing a little red Toyota somethin'-er-other....which he eventually passed, mind you. Anyway, I learned a bit about finding the best "racing line", and had some fun riding along with some really good drivers. |
| So other than riding along with Mike in his GTI, I hitched a ride in this race-prepped Porche with a guy that's been racing for 35 years! It had a 400+ horse-power engine, full roll cage and six-point harnesses for both the driver and passenger. Cruising speed along the straight-a-way was around 140mph. During my run with this guy, I think we passed everybody else on the track at LEAST once! I also got to ride in the Subaru Impreza WRX (left) in the advanced drifting group. The driver had pretty much given up on getting it to drift, so she drove "gripper" style. It was pretty cool to get a ride with an advanced driver! |

| Whoops! No more driving for that guy! Both passenger and driver walked away and it was during the last run of the day anyway. Whew! |
