Leafy Ghillie Suit |
The foliage or leafy ghillie suit isn't as well known as the burlap style, but it is gaining a great deal of popularity amongst hunters lately. Since the leafy suit is three dimensional and looks like leaves, a lot of hunters are using this type of ghillie for hunting from a treestand. They are also using it for turkey hunting and stalking in wooded areas. Now this is due do to the fact that the "leafy" appearance helps blend in with the surrounding plants and leaves. |

Leafy suits are made with several different materials and have numerous options to choose from. |

Below is a list of some options and materials that can be used. |
-The clothing can be anything, but a set of military style cammies (BDU's) or a flight suit (mechanic's suit) will work best. -Military camouflage netting will work best for a leafy appearance. -The netting can be attached to the clothing in several ways: Shoo Goo, zip-ties, or sew it on. If you do more than one, it will make it more durable. -Other strips of fabric (old cammies, t-shirts, etc.) can be tied to the netting to create a more filled out suit. -The reinforcement material can be cut from a seabag, CP (GI) tent, or a military shelter half. -The ventilation netting can be a mosquito netting or a mesh clothing bag (paint or dye different colors to match clothing/burlap). |
