This site provides some information about a part of the history of a townland in the parish of Killoe which is situated in County Longford, Ireland. It is also hoped that this web site might be of interest to genealogists by including an index and plan of the graveyard. Transcriptions have been added in the Graveyard page.

The church and grave yard at Newtownbond are situated in the south eastern corner of the parish of Killoe. The church is approximately four miles from Edgeworthstown and six miles from the town of Longford. (See map below)

The graveyard slopes gradually to the north and is located on well drained land, at approximately 100 metres above sea level. At one time there was an avenue to the south of the graveyard leading to Newtownbond house. The house, now demolished, lay 180 metres to the south-west. A low mound, possibly  a motte, is approximately 220 metres south-west of the church.
