My name is Kieren. I am an Australian who lives in Taiwan. I have also lived in Singapore and China in the past. I am grew up in a mixture of both Perth (Western Australia, not Scotland) and Sydney. I was a mad train fan when I was a kid, having become interested in model trains at a young age. I gradually moved away from trains a bit when I grew older and went to university. When I went to university I studied Chinese and commerce and I ended up studying in China where at 21 years of age (in 1994) I could regularly see 2-8-2 JS and 2-10-2s QJ steam engines operating freight trains and shunting near where I lived but at the time I would not have known anything about them ! I later worked in advertising in Shanghai and Sydney, but I have spent the last few years in Taiwan first teaching English, now other things like importing trains! I intend to live in Taiwan for many years to come.
Some other things about me, I am a vegetarian and an athiest. Other things that interest me include cars (especially Australian and Italian cars), traveling in Asia, Chinese language and politics.
