Our last day in Savannah. Of course the morning starts out with light rain. Thank goodness we all had our ponchos. We definitely had to use them.
We started out spending the day on Tybee Island. We went to the Sunrise Restaurant for breakfast. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet. The owner's daughters were former Girl Scouts and she gave us a Girl Scout discount.
After breakfast we headed over to the Tybee Island Lighthouse and Museum. We climbed all the way to the top of the lighthouse, all 178 steps. The view on the pigeon walk was magnificent.
After touring the lighthouse and the museum we loaded the vehicles back up and headed for Savannah. We stopped at the Wendy's near the Historical Museum for lunch. From there we went to the Laurel Grove Cemetary to visit Juliette Low's gravesite.
The rain had stopped by now and everything was glistening. The azaleas were in bloom and the huge trees were breathtaking. Late March is a fantastic time to visit Savannah.
We had our Girl Scouts Own Ceremony at Juliette's gravesite. One of our girls prepared the ceremony with us sprinkling daisy seeds over Juliette's grave. Then at the head of the grave we placed the trail sign for "Going Home". It was a very special closing to the end of our trip.
