FAQ’S On my Corrado (May 7, 2002). OK, spend 2 minutes and read this, here I go. I feel I know a little about Corrados. I bought my 1991 Corrado in spring of 1996 and have dealt with almost anything you could dream of. It is not that I bought a lemon; it is that I created work for myself. First off the suspension was getting old, so I bought a Spax 24 way adjustable kit from Rons Parts back in the day. Well I hate my Spax kit, the soft setting is still harsh and the shafts have all pitted. I should have gone with my gut feeling and got H&R springs and Bilstien shocks and struts. Go with this setup, it is the best one out. It is way easier to get warranty from huge companies than small overseas ones. Now that my car was lowered, I needed a set of wheels so I bought a set of TSW Imolas with Toyo Proxes FZ4 tires, 205/45/16's with a 35 offset. I got them from RPI. These were good wheels no complaints, but have since been traded for a set of Fittipaldi /OZ Polaris's with Yokohama A520 tires, 215/40/17's with a 35 offset. Oh Corn, love ya for that deal. I will say that the A520's stick much better than Toyos. I am quite happy with the A520s and there price, so that is what i'm buying again this year. Soon after I bought an intake setup from a small company that no longer exists Deutsch by Design it came with the bracket and the filter (it was identical to the Neuspeed one). So now that I had a hot $hit intake, I need exhaust. Well let me tell you that I thought it was cheaper to buy a Dynomax Ultra Flo (a nice muffler I will admit) and have a local muffler shop make all of the rest of the parts. Well 6 years later. I still regret that initial decision, I should have just bought the Supersprint cat back system. It probably would have been cheaper by now and my car would not sound like $hit, so some time this summer (2002) I am ordering a cat back Supersprint setup. I have been told by many sources that the header for a Corrado G60 does not make a difference at all, supposedly the factory manifold flows just awesome. If anyone knows different let me know. So now I needed Neuspeed P-Chip and plug wires. RPI supplied the chip while Toys and Tunes(R.I.P.) supplied the wires. I can't say that the chip changed my life but the plug wires were sure nice to look at. I believe that all of this happened in the first 2 years of owning the car. So next came the brakes. I ordered Brembo crossdrilled rotors and PBR metal master pads and Neuspeed stainless braided lines all from RPI. I bought Timken rear wheel bearings from a local bearing shop. I am so happy with this setup you can't beat it. My friends and I have come to the conclusion that I can’t stop on a dime. It is a little too small but I can stop on a quarter. After the brakes came the Neuspeed front strut tie bar that I got from RPI, then I felt the front one would get lonely so I had to order the Neuspeed rear shock tower tie bar from RMR. These 2 items together have an extremely noticeable effect on the handling of your Corrado; I highly recommend buying these items. OK how much more can I spend. So I bought Momo Carbon Fiber pedals from Mobile Accessories, Momo Champion steering wheel and Momo adapter from Gab and finally a Momo Air Leather shift knob from T&T Honda. I, love Momo accessories, they make nice gear. Oh ya I never drive my car in the winter and in the last 6 years I have only put 50,000km on my car for a total of 128,000km now. Then came the body shop. A few winters ago, I had them fill the holes in my front bumper (I hate front license plates) where someone thought the plate should go. I also had them fill the front sidemarker lights in the bumper, and remove the side rubber moldings. I ordered a Reiger Tuning badgeless grill with built in eyebrows and a set of Euro headlights from RPI. The Euro headlight conversion is a must, you have no idea till you get it. I can not stress this enough. So I had the body shop paint to match my grill, front strut tie bar, and the rear shock tower tie bar plus the rear plate holder. Oh the entire car was painted the factory color of metallic burgundy black cherry. So then comes the big one. I decided that I no longer needed a G60, I wanted an Eaton 62 blower from a Ford Thunderbird, well this mod was an utter headache but I love it, it is so loud when it spools up all you hear is the supercharger whine. It is so cool. I have to thank Momentum Motorsports for that one. It was by no means a complete kit. I had to manufacture a lot of parts for this one to work. So when I went to the Eaton I needed more fuel so I bought the Porsche 944 fuel pressure regulator from Parts Source, it was a direct bolt on mod. Well here I am today, May 2002 and I bought a SDS EM-3F standalone engine management system from Spike. So I had to buy MSD 50 lb/hr fuel injectors from PTR Injection. I was also lucky enough to get my hands on an early Audi 5000 turbo intake manifold. I also bought a sandwich adapter for an oil cooler setup. I am hoping to have all of these parts in by the end of May. I will have an update hopefully mid June as to how the new parts are working. I have personally shied away from most cosmetic modifications to build a really powerful engine, I am sitting at around 210hp and I want to be at around 280s - 290s once all of these parts are in. I have made some good choices and some poor ones over the last 6 years. I have learned so much about Corrados. In Regina, SK there are only 10 or so Corrados. I have had service shops call me and ask for advice on what is wrong or where to find parts. I don’t consider myself a Corrado pro by any means but I have tackled a lot of problems with my own Corrado and hold my Bentley manual close like a bible. This is a must own book if you own a Corrado. I can tell all of you to research all of your purchases fully. Some things you need to buy, others are just too costly for what they actually are. I made proper note of my smart purchases and note of my poor ones. I have yet to crack my motor open but the winter of 2002 -2003 is the planned date for that. I’m planning on boring it to a 2.1L and buying JE race forged pistons, getting the crank knife edged, and shot penning the connecting rods. For the head I want to put a Kent cam in with the Kent cam sprocket, Schrick valve springs and with titanium retainers, 5 angle valve job. With all new valves, seals and parts. And that folks is my story, and I’m sticking to it. Oh my God, is this allot of work (April 2002). OK so over the last few months I have bought a SDS EM-3F stand alone engine management system, with crank triggered timing, with independent coil packs. I also bought MSD 50lbs injectors which will support up to 380 horsepower, and I just got a early Audi 5000 turbo intake manifold that I need to modify, to get it to work on my car. By late fall I want to break 300hp with my 1.8L. There is the update. I will be posting pictures and all sorts of stuff cause I’m done school now and have time for this page again. Spend More (May 2002). I just bought a sandwich oil cooler adapter from EBAY. Now I need to buy hose and the core. And More (May 2002). I got a Turbo Talon oil cooler core from CWS Tuning for a good price, they are nice and compact and will fit just nicely where the battery was. I also got VW Passat rear door handles from him, and am going to use those so I have no more key lock holes. I also acquired a real carbon fiber Sprint hood scoop, and raw carbon fiber mat(I will have to make a panel, just like fiber glassing is what they tell me)  to mount my controller and switches in the dash, from Jason Mcphearson.
