III. Financial Aid Forms Check with your college to determine which forms need to be filed. PAY ATTENTION TO DEADLINES!!!
FAFSA-(Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Many colleges require this form. Students applying for any type of federal or state aid must file this form. (Student Loans, Grants, or Work Study) You may file a paper copy of this form (available in the Guidance Office) or you may file on line (see link below). The earliest you can file the FAFSA is January 1 of the year you plan to attend college.
College Board Profile- Some colleges require that families submit the PROFILE form in addition to the FAFSA. Check with your college to see if they require the PROFILE. There is a cost to file the PROFILE. Like the FAFSA, paper copies are available in the guidance or you may file online.(see link below)
College Financial Aid Forms- Some colleges require families to fill out their own forms in addition to those mentioned above. Check with your college to see if you need to fill out additional forms.
NYS TAP Application- NYS residents who will be attending a NYS college may be eligible for TAP depending on income. Students must complete a FAFSA and list one NYS school. Students will automatically receive an Express Tap Application (ETA).
Federal School Codes (used to complete the FAFSA)
I. BEWARE!!! We would like to caution families to be aware of scams regarding financial aid. There are individuals and companies who advertise help in locating scholarships and completing the FAFSA for a fee. The information they provide is free of charge from various sources including the Financial Aid Office of the college you plan to attend, your high school Guidance Office and the New York State Financial Aid Administrator's Association. Contact the Guidance Office for additional information.
