Entrevista con - Pablo Gomez

GL - Welcome Pablo!, thanks for your time!
PG - Thanks to you guys!!.

GL - Tell us about your personal history and background how did you learn to play the guitar?
PG - I was born the 23 rd october 1981 , i grow up in a family who practice instruments,i have always been interested by playing music too,my father played classical guitar and my mother sang and played flamenco.they show me how to play guitar but i learned all by myself then.

GL - Tell us about your technique and how you developed it?
PG - I really like to play fast when i'm at home, i really like sweeping and two handed tapping. But i think it will take 4 or 5 records to show my technique. I dont know now how did i get to play like this, but i can tell you that i did not sleep many years because i was working fast licks!! hehehe. so i just play with my ears, nobody shows me some licks. I think learning all by yourself is a good way to have your own sound and feeling, it is important to not imitate great guitarists

GL - Who are your main influences?
PG - Classical music (Bach, Paganini) flamenco (Paco de Lucia, Juan Serrano) oriental music, new age and shred such as Yngwie Malmsteen, Joey Tafolla, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, Tony Macalpine, Patrick Rondat.

GL - And if you have to choose.. Who would be your favorite guitar player?
PG - It is really difficult for me to tell that! hehehe but,i think i will hesitate between Marty Friedman or Yngwie Malmsteen. no Marty Friedman!! he is the best! hehehe

GL - Can you tell me what projects are you currently working on?
PG - I was making a good demo with a better sound because an american producer and artist (ken tamplin ,he is the cousin of samy haggar)really likes my music but he wanted a better sound demo.so i will release my first instrumental record,i hope i will have jennifer batten to play on it,and my goal is to play in a metal band as soloist and to continue to do instrumental records,i'm on a project with dr mastermind guys matt mc court and boriz haranki too,it is my favourite band

GL - Thats just great!, i wish you all the luck of the world for it!!.. im sure you will have it!.. but that makes me wonder .. What do you think about the new crop of talented Guitar player's that are currently out there making music?
PG - like rusty cooley or francesco fareri?, they don't play guitar they play shred!! hehehe, but i like them, francesco could be one of my friends, they are really talented guitarists, but i prefer instrumental hard rock in the 80's years, in the beginning, i really miss these good years, i was too young!! hehe

GL - Hehehe you miss the old days with big hair and people jumping like Van halen?
PG - Hahaha, i used to wear long hairs since i was a kid but, i think it is like "deja-vu"

GL - You have a couple of demos, one of them titled "Dreams & Illusions". Could give us a run down on the music that is included on them?
PG - I made twos demos, i had 8 songs on the first demo entitle "revelation". It was my first instrumental demo. "Dreams and illusions" is the better for me, but these songs are old now, i composed all the melodies when i was younger, i begun to play shred at the age of 16. "Revelation" has more classical and flamenco songs. "Dreams & illusions" is more heavy, and i play with keyboards too on it. But i know that there is an evolution between the two demos

GL - Which is your approach or inspiration to write a song?
PG - My goal is to show to people different feelings in my songs.but only for my instrumental songs.it is like a storry, but written in music language,i was sad for the most of the songs that i compose ,but i can be happy too! hehehe, when i say "sad", it is when i think to wonderfull things in life ,when i was younger,i believed that i could not have good things in my life, but now,it is different

GL - How can a guitar player transform his technical potential in music with melodies and structures and not only exercises?
PG - This is a real work to do in your own mind,i think,if you want to show to the world that you're a serious guitar player (and not a player that compose a song in two minutes) you have to try to play in a high technical level, that's my opinion, but it is hard to put melodies with great technich with in mind to play with feeling but it is not the same for every good

GL - Where is the line between performer and musician for you?
PG - This is a good question, but the behaviour on the scene is different, when you're making your own music at home, you're serious, you play with more feeling. But today, musicians must do the show, it is important, i have to learn more about it hehehe; but i prefer musicans who doesn't want to impress people, but with the feeling i'm more impressed by a good sound, it is boring for me to hear some guys who wants to impress technically

GL - You were involved with Pablo Soler. Any highlights from that experience?
PG - We want to do a tour together, pablo soler is a great guitarist, but i don't know if it is good that we have the same name! hehehe

GL - And about that What are your thoughts on the state of instrumental guitar these days?
PG - It's still good, many people believed that instrumental music is dead but i don'think that, but maybe there are only guitarists who buy these instrumental records, because today, a lot of kids prefers to hear a music with a big guitar sound, with vocals and easy guitar licks, such as bands as linkin park, limp bizkit, but i don't hate this

GL - Well, i do, YUCK!! (lol)
PG - hehehe you like these bands?

GL - Naaaa not really.. i prefer my oldies bands like Megadeth, Metallica and more really bands!! like Dream Theater, Symphony X, and others.. but thats another story.. Tell me, What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
PG - I'm trying to do the music that i would love to hear by others guys, i really like all the bands who did records on shrapnel records (Cacophony, Phantom Blue, Dr Mastermind, Racer X) and others as Vixen, Ratt, Europe, Twisted sisters, all these bands but i like Adagio, Symphony X, Megadeth, Metallica, Metal church

GL - Where do you see yourself in a few years?
i think i will live in the united states or japan, i know some europens producers but i did not get signed in their music company because i think it would not be interesting for me

GL - When all is said and done, years from now, how would you want people to remember you?
PG - I don't care to be a super guitar heroe i will be so happy if people could say that i play with feeling, that they enjoyed to hear my music, and also if they knew what i'm trying to tell in my music. i'm here to give to people some refexions about their life, i need to show them that i play with my heart

GL - Thats a good answer! and i guess you already does!.. i havent hear all your stuff but im sure youŽll get a lot of satisfactions in your life for it!.
PG - Thanx man really!

GL - Which is in your opinion the best way for an undiscovered artist to be less unknown with his music?
i think the better way right now is to send his music to magazines and websites, and after it,you send your music with the reviews,it is the better way to be less undiscovered because music companies so i made the choice to try to promote myself by magazines and websites,i don't do many shows

GL - Can you tell me if theres a possible endorsers for you to go out and play for promotion? and what are your main guitars and amps at the moment?
i don't have any contacts right now to have an endorser.i play on many jackson guitars,i play with peavey amps

GL - Is the guitar scene dead? theres no more people like M. Varney interested in guitar music or what do you think... why is that?
PG - I think now if you want to do instrumental music, you 'd better have a well known band ,it is the better promotion i think for an instrumental guitarist.i know some people who asked me if i wanted to do an instrumental record,i said yes, but only for the first record, they said,ok! that's no impossible,so maybe i will have some luck! hehe but it is sure that i need to join a band now

GL - If you want to add something more for the site, please feel free to say what you want!
PG - Great!, I will ask for bands who needs to make a projetc with guitarists as me,they can contact me,they can check my mp3 on my website.i don't want to give some technical advice about technical stuff! many good players do this,i don't care to be another good guitarist,if someone says to me that he likes my music and he is impressed by the melodies,i will die happy! hehehe

GL - Thanks for your time Pablo, i wish you all the best for your music career you are a really GREAT player!
PG - thanx you too bro and thanx for your good questions!
